You have forgotten that they said that most legacy bonuses can be purchased, so you don't need to have 16 slots. Nor even 8.

Hmm.
I'm in the same boat -- all 8 slots are filled, one per class.

So when new races/species get unlocked I'm out of luck unless 1) we get more slots per server and/or 2) race/species unlocks are account-wide rather than server-wide.

I think its worth pointing out there are other problems. I like many have 8 chars - 1 of each AC 4 on empire 4 on republic. Now I have a Sith Warrior Juggernaut on the Empire side. He is lvl 20 and has maxed out crafting skills. Do I want to delete him because basically I do not like playing as a Juggernaut? No. I would rather have 2-4 more slots to allow me to keep him and make a marauder to level too (it's not a class I think I'll play at endgame, but it does have a really good story).

Nice try though.
They still need 16 slots. The post launch nature of the legacy system means there are a lot of people who have 8 characters made and leveling at this point, and played one faction per server due to the 8 total advanced classes.

Nice try to you, no points awarded.

No, they don't.

I want 16 character slots per server, because I just want to roll more alts on the same server.

I'm an altaholic.

I know, but I cannot make new characters which the system is all about. :/

There isn't a penalty for not using all 8 slots on a server now, and there won't be a penalty for not using all 16 slots should they increase the number. If it helps some people and hurts no one, what does it matter?
People just like saying no for no good reason. It's how humans work. Even if it is a small change like this that would make a lot of people very happy.

Bioware aren't perfect?

This is going to be a problem with the legacy system as it stands. Really we do need 16 slots per server as things stand (or even the option to unlock 16 slots though legacy would do).
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?
