I have the only level 1 on Imperial Fleet for my server I'm pretty certain.
Looking for a good woman. Able to clean, cook, sew, catch bait, and clean fish. Must have boat and motor.
((Please send picture of boat and motor))

Piss poor design flaw is just piss poor. From day 1 Bioware has implemented different systems to keep players cornered and corralled from each other and it really has to do with the personal story that every class has. Now, that doesn't mean i dislike the VO and cutscenes, but everyone knows that even to much of a good thing can be bad. It would have been so much better if they started your story at level 10. I could imagine it going something like, You enter the game, like now, but instead of jumping into that class story you are told that once you get enough training you will be sent to whomever and that's when things start to roll for class story. As a level 1, you should then be able to take a shuttle to any of the starting planets and level up with a friend or friends. All regular quests should be open for anyone to do at the appropriate level on any planet.

It changed a few patches ago. I would hop to the fleet first chance I got and do the "talk to the crew skills trainers" quests and gain 2 levels, and then go back. I'm guessing a lot of people did this...hence the change.
You are playing a frickin video game.
You are not hardcore by any reasonable definition.

You can go to the fleet at level 7. Seriously, it doesn't even take an hour to get to level 7. Wow, this is really a game-breaking design flaw. <sarcasm, in case you didn't get it>

It's definitely a design flaw in an MMO you're supposed to be able to play with friends. But then it has a lot of those.

Yes, but you'd be wise to not leave the starting planet until 10-11.

This was changed recently. At launch you could do this. I would take my level one to the fleet and learn crafting, talking to all the crafting trainers would bring you up to level four.

Don't know why they changed it, if it was because you could get to level four, they should of removed the xp gain from talking to trainers rather than slap yet another senseless restriction in the game, cause lord knows one thing SWTOR has too many of is senseless restrictions.

Early levels are some of the best stories (Imp side anyways, not sure on Rep). But if you really want to see the Trooper story, just start a trooper yourself. It doesn't take long to finish the starting world.
