Make sure you have the latest direct x runtime update that includes 9.0c and latest gpu driver. Also right click swtor launcher and go to comparability and disable windows theme, run as administrator and disable the thing right next to windows theme.can't think of what it is atm
And turn off shadows

When you upgrade you'll notice the game looks alot better than 8 years old

Also people...

I actually have been thinking about getting a new computer.

Would upgrading the CPU, RAM, etc. actually give me what I want for now and a year or two down the road or should I just buy a new one?

This one is already two years old.
I could spend 2-3k on a new computer but I have NO IDEA what to get.
Of course I want a gaming computer but I have no clue what the good computers are for that price range. Help anyone?

If I was to buy one for about 2k-2.5k could I get one that would run this game about as smooth as you can?

Also.. I need some guidance.
What are some good gaming computers in that price range?
Dude you can build the best gaming PC (just tower) for like 1200 if you know what your doing. For an easy build google "the PC gamer rig revisited"

go to properties
Go to compatibility
Disable windows theme and the other obvious thing that's next to it, I forgot what that one is called.

There isn't a windows theme or anything next to it under compatibility.
Here's what there is:
Compatibility mode (check on or off) I have it off.

Settings: (you can check or uncheck these..they are all unchecked)
run in 256
run in 640x 480
Disable visual themes
Disable desktop composition
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

Privilege level:
Run as admin or not.

Those are the only things under the Compatibility tab
