Premades getting a crutch to help them

Just realized, all this talk and we are missing one major aspect of the entire concept.

Regardless of anything else, ranked pvp will suck unless they get a half decent match making system.

Players would have individual ratings which would allow them to be stacked up against similar competition in either bracket. That way skilled players who don't have the time to schedule with 7 other people can actually progress in PvP and not just get frustrated and quit. I'd prefer to actually have a variety of players to PvP against instead of the few hardcore people who will stay. And this is coming from someone who will be running a premade.
And if it goes the other way the entire player base looking for competitive PvP will leave.

SO the question is which would they prefer? The casuals who play with their baby on their lap and play for 1-2 hour sessions or the elite/professional players who will indirectly promote their game via Pro Circuit games, live streams, and websites...

hmm.......

If I got this wrong please flame the hell out of me, but to me it's simply the definition of insanity.
This is an MMO. Gear is progressive. When they release a new set of PvP gear, they will probably make the current gear easier to acquire. Why is that a problem? It's how it works in every MMO.

As to premades getting an advantage.. If they follow WoW's gear system, then only the good premades are going to have access to the top rated gear, and the bad premades are going to be battling it out below the minimum required rating for that gear. The good premades that do get the gear, 99% of the time will beat you anyway, even without slightly better gear. So why is everyone crying?

This man has a good point. This man also failed to look at Blizzard's model that caters to casual gamers. Why did they do this? Because that is where your money is. Catering to a small crowd of young adults working part time while going to college, or older gamers with no life (sorry to insult but its true) is all well and good, but a business will make more money catering to as many age groups as possible, ie. casual gamers.

[edit] Having said that, the one side that is most likely to be insulting to the other is the "more-gregarious" pack, for some unknown-to-me reason. Witness some of the posts in this thread.
I don't know about that...frankly I find it to be a pretty offensive assertion that someone with 40 friends has "friends" with quotes, but someone with 1-2 friends, has "deeper relationships."

Seems that both sides find ways to be pretty insulting.

True and true. But WoW also started catering to their casuals AFTER they had 8million+ subs. SWTOR is not in a good place right now and I don't see a viable solution to cater to both types of gamers.

Now that I think about it GW2 is coming so they might as well forget about the true competitive PvPers. Go casuals go

Because you are essentially saying "You cant play" If you think you will beat my PuG then beat it. don't tell me you will beat so I cant play. The tool to solo Q works well, allow us to use it. Not to mention the people who may have a premade of 6 and want 2 people to fill out their group.

Same gear? or same advantages?

Gear, yes...for the most part.

Advantages? Not even close.

I get your analogy but you're forgetting one critical piece of the equation, MMOs are founded upon having carrots. Without them interest wanes and people leave the game.

Don't get me wrong, I want a challenge. I want to compete on a level playing ground as much as ANYONE. But I do understand the nature of MMOs and what motivates people to play.

And frankly, I'd rather be in a game with motivated players with varying levels of gear where I can queue and get into a game in a few minutes than in a game with a TINY NICHE group of players who are perfectly balanced but it may take hours to get a queue.
