Be Careful for what you wish for

It's just text. Your philosophy on the LFG tool is, "If you don't like it, don't use it." correct?

If you don't like the text, just ignore it.

I have read every post in here, and I'm baffled that people who say they love playing MMOs are apparently not social enough to actually TALK to people to get groups. It doesn't take hours to get a group together, it takes 1 braincell.

Step 1: Open Who tab.
Step 2: Click LFG DPS/Tank/Healer (w/e) and the name of the FP you want to run.
Step 3: Send out "DPS/Tank/Healer LFG for X HM"
Step 4: Go back to Who.
Step 5: Find level 50s in your area.
Step 6: Send out a whisper: "Hey. I was wondering if you wanted to come for X HM?"

It also helps to throw in a question about what specc they are.
Using this simple SOCIAL method I get groups within 2-3 minutes. In peak hours it takes me less than 1 minute. In dead hours it takes me maybe up to 10 minutes.

Using WoW's LFD I use 10 minutes in peak time and 40+ minutes in dead times (the game doesn't even give me a time estimate during dead hours because there aren't anyone).
If you haven't tried this incredibly simple, effortless thing to get a group, you have no right to ***** about it taking too long. It will take even longer with a WoW-type LFD system.

If you're offended by whispers, I feel sorry for you. Just say "noty" and you're done with it. It takes a LOT less time than spamming general chat waiting to get picked up by a group. Sometimes I don't even have to whisper people: I see someone posting in General about which FPs he wants to run, so I whisper him and ask if he wants to start a group. And there we already have the start of a group, doesn't take much longer to get the rest of the players either.

Been there, done that a lot of times (almost every time I log in)... want to guess how many groups I have gotten with the current LFG tool SW has? If you made a circle with your thumb and forefinger, that would be accurate.

I have spammed /General plenty and am usually successful after a time (sometimes I have logged without so much as one response), but its not optimal... for sure!

Your argument about being social is actually bordering on anti-social. Your solution is to harass other players whilst looking for a group?

So very glad I'm not on your server. And you can't turn that argument around. Not using a tool is very different from having to try and ignore a player who keeps whispering you.

It's not even close to optimal, but it's a lot better to use the current system for what it is than ignore it. When BioWare upgrades it (God forbid they copy paste WoW's LFD), then that will change things up and you can probably go back to being as antisocial as you want.

No, but from what you've said you wouldn't just whisper one person once ever, you'd whisper them often on different days. Now imagine everyone did that.

You're sat in the fleet doing something like crafting or browsing the galactic market, and getting hounded constantly by tons of players whispering asking if you want to group together.

To hell with that! I'd take sitting watching the General Chat for a "LFG?" comment appearing!
