I like PvP , but arenas if implemented in the same way they were in WoW are the least to say a stupid and bad idea.

Gear like you said is the least you got the worry in a arena , lets face it , also is skill , or at least skill inside the battle , arenas depended much more in the set up you made.

So , unless BW come up with a very intelligent idea (which would be a first) , arenas are much better out of this game.
The Lord said: "QQ enough and thou shall receive it."
The followers said: "I shall QQ my lord, i shall QQ."
And since then , not a single day passed without the QQs being heard.

Im goin' to start being rude here. Once again: YOU'RE NOT FORCED TO PLAY ARENA IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. Stick with your PvE-sluggish rated WZ.

As for rewards - we can return to discuss them when arena implemented. One thing is clear though - rewards should be given to players who earned them, not just to anyone. It's MMO guys, MMO's are always about gear carrot-on-a-stick.
May the force be without you.

Its not about wanting to do them or not. Its.. ah, nevermind, people like you never listen. But as I said, the final decision is up to BW....

can't wait for GW2 and I hope none of these gear-hungry people never follow me or anyone else over there...

Sorry, unless I can check a box that says "Don't screw up my class because of duel in a box." then your argument doesn't work.

You're going to start being rude?

That's a joke. You started being rude in your opening post.

It was being rude about PvE players, whom, you're still being rude about.

And a whine. About needing more gear.

Rude and a whiner. And we're supposed to think you know what's best for the bulk of the player base? God help us all.

I'm not going to add any more arguments to this thread, because, to be frank, the OP has been more than willing to participate and validate his opinions even if he is wasting his time with the so-called pvp'ers lurking here.

Oh, and people responding to this thread with redundancies.. seriously... Afraid of being excluded from higher skill-cap competitions? Warzones can be fun, but they ultimately consist of ZERGS. Sorry, but individual skill does not matter at all in zergs.

What makes PvE balance more important than PvP balance? And as for PvP balance, if game is balanced for a team play, there is no more balanced team PvP than arena, because, as i said in 1st post, arena match is going in a situation without outside buffs, stims, adrenals and terrain gimmicks like fires or acid pits. It's not perfect, but you won't get better statisitcs anywhere.
May the force be without you.

What makes you think PvE Balance should be sacrificed to PvP? Its a mirror dude, Arena cannot be implemented without messing up something in the PvE. I PvP much more than I PvE, but I understand the implications of something like Arena. everyone deserves to have fun, and when either side becomes changed due to the other side this fun is skewed indefinitely.

Again - I've no qualms with closed box PvP. I just really dislike the idea of having improved gearing from it. For reasons that I've clearly explained. I also dislike the fact that Comps become so important (in low man setups), because it's practically impossible to balance around a 2v2 and not easy to balance around a 3v3. If we had 4v4 and 8v8 setups, that'd be a start in the right place, but WoW's model really got it wrong.

And I don't consider - his - saying that people who explain why Arena failed actually means that they failed at performing in Arena, acceptable as a "polite or valid" response to a valid complaint.

There are valid arguements against Arena - and it's something that many didn't enjoy because of HOW WoW set it up, and especially against Arena made in the likeness of the WoW model. I loved GW's arena. The focus however, was a far cry from WoW's.

I personally didn't like it, because I felt like I HAD to do it to keep up with PvE gearing for competetive raiding. I didn't like the fact that again - gear became important for PvP. Sorry but - from playing UO/SWG/GW (and to a lesser extent FFXI's Ballista), gear was a relative non issue - for different reasons.

We've enough of a gear disparity between fresh 50's and fully Champed out people, that it's already dissauding some, even though it's relatively easy to bridge that gap, further inncreasing it, isn't a good idea imo, and not ONE person has been able to justifty that power creep.
