Not quite true. You can Rail Shot a target that's been knocked down.

No, seriously. Try it. Find some weak mob that'll survive an Explosive Dart. Hit it with a Dart, keep it targeted, and watch your Rail Shot light up when it's knocked down by the blast. And proceed to fire off a Rail Shot for good measure.

My newbie trooper used to Explosive Round -> High Impact Bolt all the time on mobs on Ord Mantell when I started. It'll also work on mobs "thrashing" around thanks to having an active grenade stuck to them. (Edit: And frozen ones from Cryo Grenades. Point is, DOT not required.)

and the shadow is melle,so both ranged and melle can do it

Oh please. I don't know about other servers, but on Crystal Rubat at lvl 50 from my experience, the pubs seem to be comprised of mostly troopers and sages. To me, people choosing these two classes over many other classes tells me that the balance is screwed up. It is natural for people to gravitate toward classes that are conceived as overpowered. I've seen a few hamburglers (smugglers) out there, but almost every match I've been in has had an overabundance of pebble tossers and cannon crawlers. On the Imp side, I see far more variety in classes.

Once you get fully geared youll sometimes see 4.2k+ on that railshot you cant use as a merc, usually against geared light armor wearers..

And yeah it DPS sucks as a merc pyro... 300-600k dmg every match is just terrible, in fact i think we need a buff...

But it is different if I can do the dmg from range or if I need to get in close combat. Because there is no restricton for range in this game, you dishout the dmg from 0-30m. In my eyes the game favours ranged/hybrid classes, which are actually almost all. Your shadow has at least stealth, other melee classes need to suck in the dmg from range without the option to dishout such high dmg at once, they need to build up rage points. I think they need to fine tuning this.
