Especially since 99% of mechanics in this game don't kill you if you don't avoid them, so all mechanics I'm tanking while watching TV would just be turned into the healer's problem, with no clear log to tell anyone I'm standing in everything.
I'm not sure you're serious.

Please can tell if you're standing around. They aren't blind.

You can't tank without attacking...

I would hope he was joking.

Every single player in my guild would notice that behavior.

If this thread is any indication, then we will already tear each other to shreds, over the meters.

For every person who says that they are 'just a tool' how many also mention that people will 'need to preform better', that expectations will take on a professional level, or the person will be booted, and forgotten.

Who will really use these meters as they are intended to be used? As tools, and a personal guide....

No, how many will use them a an ego boost, as a way to obsessively control all of those around them, as a way to demean and shame those who are just trying their best?

For every raid leader that it helps, it will create a little PUG dictator spamming Recount on normal trash pulls.

It's human nature, and human nature is more like the Sith than the Jedi really...

The meters will come, but for now I will enjoy the relative calm of the game, enjoy the general chats as they are...before the tide of rage and anger sweeps over it, and casts a dark cloud into the sunny sky.

Pretty much. Also I enjoy being top damage consistently and noticeably - namely because I actually worked out the math on my rotation and most other people are too lazy. I don't need a combat log to pick an efficient rotation out of the skills available to me.

He has STILL not answered the most important questions asked of him:

1. You suggested to have "the weakest healer" switch to dps if you don't have enough. How do you determine who is the weakest healer?

2. Have you ever completed a Hard Mode flashpoint with a party composition that did not include 1 tank 1 healer and 2 dps?

He's a hypocrite of the highest form, simply ignore anything inconvenient to his flawed argument and contradict himself at every turn. At the base, this is all he is saying - "I am afraid. I am afraid that other players will bully me."
It doesn't matter who the weakest healer is to be honest. I would actually say that the weakest healer is the one with the least amount of experience in that particular encounter to be honest. Not a parsed number. The one who is the least situationally aware, because of lack of experience.

I contradict nothing. i simply don't play games that way min/max nazi's like you do, that feel the sun will not rise tomorrow without a combat log. That is impossible to make strategic decisions with out one. That is just flat out false. I'm sorry if your limited experience in gimp MMO's has reduced you to relying on spreadsheets to make ultimatimum type of final decisions bassed on progression - how sad and pitiful your gaming world must be.

Self validation for you comes in the form of a parse. HA HA HA. You are a slave to a spreadsheet. I am not. You can argue this with me all day long - you can continue to say that I am scurrred of a combat parse. I couldn't care less. I succeed to the highest level of every game I have every participated in - and i can assure you of 1 thing. I never RELIED on a combat log to do so. If it was there and available, sure I used the information. But it is FAR, FAR from necessary like you claim it is.

And let me repeat. It is because you know no other way. And I pity oyur miserable gaming existence that is reliant upon a parse.

These forums have so many bad players on them its scary. Combat Log is a basic feature that is obviously necessary, and it will be put in. If somehow players use it to find out how poorly you are performing, then hopefully you either stop sucking or are kicked from groups.

Do we play the system? (no art, no story, no fun, no friends, just cold calculations and 'top dog' mentality)

Or do we play the game? (the art, the story, fun, lifelong guild friends, and a grand adventure defeating many challenges, along the way)

I think Chewpaco has summed it up best, and to me, is the example of a true Raid leader.

A parser/log will not "ruin" a community. If you don't like the way a leader is running a raid, don't play with them.. It's really that simple.
Did you not read a thing I wrote that I responded to? I swear to God some of these people that debate in these forums are incapable of comprehending a single thing that they read.

It has absolutley nothing to do with what raid I join, who I am grouped with, what my raid leader did, or my piss poor pathetic dps.

It is the SOCIAL CESS POOL THAT ENSUES. That's right. I could be sitting in Republic Fleet just crafting - doing nothing of major importance. And for the next 45 minutes I have to read bickering from immature idots across the general chat channel about who is a noob, who needs to L2P - kthxbye - minimum req of 850 dps req to join, must be such and such specced because some theory crafter concluded this is the only viable spec for a dps sage.

I don't want to hear that garbage ever single day, every single time i log on.

If I want to hear that garbage, I know exactly what game to renew a subscription to.

As of right now - you don't see mandatory specs called out for groups/raids. You don't see dps requirements called out for groups. You don't see gearscroe reqs.

You know what else you don't see?

ALL THE BS, CHILDISH BANTERING, EPEEEN, MUSCLE-FLEXING NONSENSE associated with such tools in General Chat.

People are completing NM content EVERY SINGLE DAY without it. My gaming experience is far more pleasant without them.

There are far more important issues than combat log.
