I'm not sure what caused you to jump into some odd adversarial approach with me but I don't have the patience for it.

A combat log gives you ALL my information (far more than a DPS meter) - what are you having trouble grasping when I tell you that you don't have a need for MY combat information?
This is absolutely hilarious. What do you think people are going to do to you if they have "ALL" your information?

What are you afraid of? Please, do tell. This is going to be good.

Think of prgoress guilds recruiting page:

Are you good playing your class? Yes
thats only thing we got atm.
Group up with them. Play with them in a smaller scale setting to make an evaluation for yourself if you feel they are a competant player.

What you will find?

You'll find a tank that is situationally aware, with good fundemental skills, that may be lacking some gear.

You will find a DPS class that is situationally aware enough to help heal when things get out of control, then resume to DPS'ing once the encounter affords him the ability to do so.

You will find a geared up player that has absolutley no idea how to control aggro or manage cc'ed targets.

You can gleen the information you want and more - with out a be all end all measuring stick like a combat parser, used by the majorit of people that aren't qualified to balance a checkbook, let alone make mathematical conclusions on Pass/Fail.

But, i dont know at all if a person next to me is doing 1k, 5k or 10k DPS.

That is actually the question. What are they going to do with it? If you want a combat parser to better yourself and do more DPS, adjust your rotation, etc. then you don't need the information from anyone else.

If you want the information from other people then you intend to use it to judge them and force them to conform to your ideal rotation, DPS, etc. to 'be better'. I don't need you to do that for me and I don't have any reason to allow you to do it.

You are failing to grasp where your needs intrude on mine. You are proving by your responses that you WILL use the log to impose your will on other people (even admitting that you will do it in your guild) - that is your option but I don't need to feed into your mentality.

Tank dies constantly, raid leader asks healers to up their game, all 3 healers they were healing the tank all the time. Nothing you can do.

I don't agree with this at all. You're choosing to play a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE ROLE PLAYING GAME. Unless you ONLY run with friends and never ever ever pug a group then I don't see your attitude on this as valid. You choose to be here, to play with other people, it's not just your time you're wasting by being bad at the game. If I'm going to commit to spending the time in a flashpoint or OP with you I should be given the information I need to make an educated decision on whether to stay or leave.

If this was a single player game OR if what you did while grouped with me had absolutely no affect on my play experience then I'd agree, but that's not the case.

I don't understand why people think the decision on who to bring/keep in their groups is better off being based upon the players gear/class than on skill.

You dont, and you can find other people that does the same and do only normal and hard modes. DMG meters are totally optional in WoW also, always been and will continue to be so.
If you didnt share your data, or if you did and i see your bad dps, i wouldnt raid with you and nothing wrong there, i want to group up with people of my skill level, no matter what my level is.

SO, if they put in a log that only shows You stats about what YOU do and what others do to YOU only, would that be as bad?

Personally, that's all I want.

I want it to tell me how much each attack hit for. I want it to tell me how much damage I took from which attacks. I really couldn't care less about what others are doing, since I mostly solo or play with my guild. But going from 3/4 health to dead in the blink of an eye is truly annoying, especially since the game seems to know that I am dead before it decides to inform me...

Me: click med pack
Game: (you cannot do that while defeated)
Me: "huh, what? I just had half health"
Game: Action stop. Critters run, then I fall.
Me: scratches head "what the hell..."

Too much of that happens in this game.

This game is still way too young to be going into full on hardcore jerk mode when it comes to raids in my opinion. Heck half the critters in the game are still bugged. If that's what is holding it up, then they made a poor choice of gaming model to follow.

Does anyone know if this is the same crew that worked on ME3? If so, I think I will cancel my pre order and wait.

You are exactly right sir. People swear all day long that they will use them for personal benefit only. But when pressed why they need to see your information too? No good answer.

It's because they absolutley plan on using the tool for the exact purpose they so strongly deny. To judge other players with. To take the focus off of we, and put it on me.

Quite contrary, its used to get "we" as best raid group as WE want. Right now i cant say even from my won guildies are they good players or not, after doing the "nightmare" modes with ease. Im sure that when they add harder content, we have to start asking questions but there aint any answers available.
