Which is what astounds me, because SW:TOR said nothing about bringing revolutionary change to the MMO World.

@ OP, yes this game is two months old and already an EPIC failure!!!!

The only good thing about SWTOR is the storytelling/voice acting wich doesnt even work within this game because i dont have the feeling i am playing a MMO

Besides the storytelling i cant think of ONE single thing wich is good about this game.

Within a year this game is F2P or DEAD!!!

P.S. Bioware developed this game for years with a budget most game companies can only dream of and still they manage to fail!!! 3 cheers for Bioware....

You're missing the point.

ArenaNet is addressing all of the proven advancements of the genre that have occurred over the past 5-7 years. BioWare did not, and released a game feature complete for 2006/2007.

Now... if the gameplay is great, people tend to overlook a lot of the bugs or lack of features. When WoW came out, combat was so great, people had fun just playing it, never mind all of the systems or content.

TOR however came out of the gate with combat problems... the ability delay, the cool down UI, the animations, etc. It wasn't fluid. So the focus was magnified on other things as well.

If GW2 comes out with awesome features and crappy gameplay, it will have problems. As will any game. But it has a better start than TOR due to the feature list.

First line, I'll take that bet.

Second line, completely fallacious.

Running out of investment money (that staff of several hundred costs upwards of a million each month, money that has to be earned back at some point. Which is when investors say, not when the techicians say).

For the first several months a relatively small proportion of the players are going to care overly much about end raids, niceties for guilds and stuff like that.
So the developers shift with something in place and then scramble like mad the next several months to iron out the worst bugs and performance issues and to add the mechanisms that were being worked on but were not yet ready for release, trying to stay ahead of the bigger bulk of the player base that grinds through the game at a bit slower pace than the most vocal complainers.
There is no conspiracy, no incompentence. Just plain technical and financial common sense. Annoying for you if you are at the wrong side of the development curve that has been projected, I will give you that.
I agree. BW is well aware that they are going to lose a number of hardcore gamers that have already reached cap. I am sure they have run numerous projections and have decided it is an acceptable risk. They are counting on being able to deliver bug fixes, content, and improvements by the time the vast majority of the players hit the cap. I would be curious what percentage of players have hit the cap. If I had to guess I would guess less than 10%. The forums make it look like a big deal because a lot of people only come to the forums to complain or to research issues they find in game.

The game is 2 months old and still missing features it should have had at launch.

I thought surely 2 months on we'd have LFG and cross server PVP. How much longer should I have paid my sub based on vague references on the developer blog?

They never planned on adding LFG or Cross Server PvP in the first place because the vocal minority on the forums preached not to do so, because it would ruin the community. The only reason they are planning on doing so now is because a new vocal minority is louder than the older one.

I can understand why the haters pollute the boards, they are still subbed and bored.... but why are the same old fans spending hours exchanging the same old **** with the haters is beyond me.

I think it completely supports the theory that the forums are more fun than the game.

FANatics : Havnt you got some Endgame to go and gush over?

I am also noticing another common theme appearing, check out the forum join dates of the the 2 factions. There most definitely is a trend forming.

I have no doubt someone make some kind of 'WoW at launch' comeback again hoping it becomes more relevant each time it is said.

Why?

Because their competition offers me more for the same price. TOR cannot afford to hide behind "two months old" when other games give you more.

The onus is on the team to deliver a game worth the monthly subscription, and I think where people find fault with TOR is that it doesn't compete well. So people move on to those games and leave TOR behind--which is not what anyone wants.
Yeah man, WoW sure gives me the ability to have voiced characters and Class storylines as well as space combat. I personally don't care if people leave SWTOR behind, because if you left this early, it's clear you're either an idiot, impatient or this game just isn't right for you.

But of course, like WoW, there will be whiners hanging on screaming "THIS GAME SUCKS" forever instead of just leaving (like I did, when I no longer enjoyed the game).

Overall, this is why I avoid coming to forums. It's the same as WoW except worse. People whining about minor things instead of either quitting or just enjoying the game. When it's constructive and sorely needed, sure, but don't harp on it.

Some features, yes, it should have had at launch (like target of target and guild banks as I said elsewhere) but others...WoW didn't implement for a long time and how could they know PvP would be so popular? On another note, I'm really hoping PvP doesn't destroy this game like Arena destroyed WoW (and I'm not a bitter PvE player, I really liked Arena but it's broken and broke other gameplay mechanics with it). This is a different game with a different playerbase and I think BW is allowed to change the game and implement features to create the kind of playerbase and game they want to, not just a carbon-copy of WoW right off the bat.

Truth. I'm going to go spend time elsewhere doing something fun and/or constructive.

They really didn't think these things out which is showing. People want LFG and Cross Realm WZs and there is no denying that.
Relabeling future patches as Expansions, just like EA Louse said a year ago. Who got the last laugh?
