Maintenance times unfair to West coasters.

It's not just the PST people it's everyone. Everyone seems to forget. Thats why when I see complaining about it I just laugh it off as ignorance. Maintenance happens at 10pm for me, right when im getting off of work. It sucks, but what can you do? I just find something else to do with my awake time lol. Complaining about this makes people look childish and it will get you no where. But it's entertaining to see the tears QQ.

Go to bed at midnight once a week. Your brain will thank you.

Goes down for us aussies at 6pm prime time so dont complain mate lol, someone somewhere is not gonna be able to play so just be happy they are fixing things, hopefully :P

To be honest, I *don't* particularly feel for the EU folks. Unless the maintenance goes the full 8 hours, it's over by mid-afternoon.

That being said, how does seperating up the server down times, so instead of trying to shoehorn one time in for everybody, we get more regionalized downtimes, hurt ANYBODY?

So EU can get their downtime 2am GMT to 10am GMT. West coast can get 4am PST to 12pm PST, East coast can get 2am EST to 10am EST, Australia/china on their servers (which I understand are "coming soon?") would be 2am whatever zone to 10am whatever zone.

That what I, at least, am advocating. Not just simply pushing EVERYBODY back 2 hours. That would be horrible for EU.

I know west coast doesn't have it the worst. But why does ANYBODY need to have it this bad (or worse?)

And why should PST play second fiddle to EST? If the maintenance period fits neatly into the "most off-peak" window for EST players, why should it be different for anyone else? The argument "that's just the way it is because most things are east coast-centric" comes to mind. I'm from the east coast originally and I know the existence of that mindset is not only prevalent but also pervasive. Completely bogus and foolish. Fact of the matter is that the east coast has lost a lot of its former glory, power and population in today's world. That trend is only accelerating so one better get used to the idea. Now if all of the U.S. *has* to have the same maintenance time, let it start at 2-3am PST so the east coasters can share in some of the pain as opposed to little to none currently.

While we are on that topic, just who said that BW *must* conform to a cross-continent, unified maintenance schedule? That sure isn't the industry standard by any stretch of the imagination. Most MMO developers that have significant customer base spanning multiple continents have the fundamental business sense to utilize a staggered down time schedule (at least 2), despite the potential inconvenience. Since BW made this bed they're in now, possibly for convenience reasons, you're damn right the customers have the right to complain. You obviously have no business experience what-so-ever so I will tell you that it's common business practice to adjust yourself to your client's (people who pays your salary) schedule. Forcing them to conform to yours does not even enter into the equation. The latter choice will get you into bankruptcy court or the unemployment line sooner rather than later, guaranteed.

P.S: If west coasters aren't allowed to complain about this, I will propose the following to BW. For one month, have the maintenance time start at midnight EST. I will gladly log off at 9pm PST just so I can see the results of this trial. If any east coaster even *dares* complain about it then your argument is automatically and unequivocally invalidated.

I am an East Coaster, so I don't have much of a problem. However I think its unfair for everyone else despite it being catered to me (3AM for East Coast). Why can't they just do it at 3AM per time zone?

I am on a west coast server. Night time when updates are done is my prime time. To me it is fine. Now if they did it every night then that would be a problem.

So in response to your title, dont lump ALL west coasters into your problem.

Really, it doesnt matter when they do maintence, someone is going to get upset.

Get over it. It is JUST a game. There is something out there called LIFE. Look for it. Enjoy it. Then when the game is back up play.

These threads about how it is unfair because of maintenance should all be deleted. There are plenty of other things to worry about then OH my game is down for a few hours.

From an Oceanic perspective - we've always been told (in other games, haven't heard anything concrete here yet) that maintenance times won't be staggered because it would result in a flood of people coming from servers under maintenance to servers not under maintenance. The ironic thing about that perceived situation is that we are also told that maintenance is done during times when the least number of people are on. The two statements side-by-side don't make much sense.

So my interpretation of why staggered maintenance is usually not done is because its not convenient to the game company.

I honestly don't see what any of you are whining about 'catering' to the east coast. Please read below:

Time: 2AM CST (12AM PST/3AM EST/8AM GMT/9AM CET) to 9AM CST (7AM PST/10AM EST/3PM GMT/4PM CET).

Looks to me more like CST is being 'catered' to. Regardless, it has to happen sometime. God forbid I get up at 9 am and I can't play until 10 am EST, I'm not going to come on here and cry favoritism.
