This is the part where you tell me and others good riddance. Just remember, SWTOR ain't the game peeps tend to return to, that game is called Pandaland.

Once again, I will disagree with the entirety of this post. You claim that "people do not return". Who are these people? Have you taken any polls on this matter? Is it assumption, conjecture?

The level of subscriptions that I am seeing, the reviews from some of the top gaming magazines that I am reading contradict, in its entirety, your comments and assessment so I'm curious as to where you are getting your information?

I am also wondering why you are still here if you hate this game so much that it prompts you to disparage it continually on the boards. Why are you still playing it etc?

It is a MMORPG. They launch with a basic shell then develop over the next 5 to 10 years as the game grows. Considering that this has been the best launch I've ever witnessed, the honest dedication of the Development team, next 5 or 10 years look very promising.

Heck, if I had any complaints at all it would be in regard to the board monitors, who seem to be a bit drunk with power. The game however, is great.
As one of those arguing against the OP, I have to clarify that I'm not discounting the fact that MMORPGs launch unfinished. What I am arguing is that it is time for a change to the modus operandi on the basis that the market is super-saturated with games and competition is fierce for my $15/mo.

Those in support of the OP tend to ignore the fact that even if all games launch unfinished, they don't launch unfinished to the same degree. STO was a wreck at launch compared to TOR, for example, and had it launched today, the players there would be clamoring for features present in TOR that aren't found in STO.

Someday it won't be acceptable for MMOs to launch unfinished, and it will take a game that's overly-polished, content-rich, and lasting to break the habit of the developers.

The fact is, we as consumers have allowed games to launched "unfinished." And I use that term loosely because we all disagree on the level of finish a game requires (see this thread for more).

What's so hard for you guys about being adult-like and mature and posting ina constructive manner then, instead of calling everyone a fanboy who points out that there's no need to keep complaining about the absence of feature X because featuer X is coming or has been promised or whatever?

What it comes down to is that all the people who desperately want to complain and convince others to hate the game have latched onto the "oh yeah? well it should have been there in the first place" nonsense argument because for the most part, you've got nothing left. Most of it is being added, already has been added or is at least promised. As for bugs, no...the vast majority of people aren't running around tearing their hair out because they feel deluged by bugs. Some people have admittedly had some really bad luck with it, but the vast majority are chugging along fine.

So yeah, maybe some of these things, even ones that aren't game breaking to not have but are nice features, "should" have been in the game from the start, but if they are all either already added, promised or actually being implemented, then you're just blathering a moot point. MOOT MOOT MOOT!!! NOT DOOM DOOM DOOM!!!

And no, I will not say good riddance, but keep in mind, people aren't leaving SWTOR fast enough to come back.

All the unsub posters are still here. Trolling the forums. Must mean they are still paying customers 2 months after launch.
You are not the center of the world, sir, I happen to like korean MMOs and so do many other players. See? There is a market for both.

While I betatested TERA over a year ago and think it's just OK, saying that GW2 shows "a little promise" just goes on to show how little you know - especially now that the press NDA was lifted on monday and everybody are praising it. MMORPG.com, Massively, Kotaku, GameSpot etc all love it, couldn't get enough of it and say it is the game of 2012, the MMO we've been waiting for years, and a breath of fresh air when compared to stupid let-me-hold-your-hand tunneled themepark MMOs like SWTOR.

Don't take it from me, take it from an united game press and non-press players who also got to play last weekend.

And as I was writing this, my Galaxy S2 went ding -> you got a new e-mail and tada, sign up process for GW2 beta is here, lol.

I don't judge a game by how old or new it is, I judge it by what it is when it is presented to me.

I, for one, expect more. My only other real MMO experience has been with Rift, and SWG. SWG was pretty bad.
I suspect that this is your problem, your lack, as you state, of understanding of MMORPGs and how they develop? I've been playing them since UO. I've been there, either through beta or early access for all of the big names, and some of the smaller games.

Comparatively, this has been the smoothest and most complete launch that I've witnessed, and with the greatest promise for expansion. This is what MMORPGs are. This is SOP. In order for expectations to be reached, one has to establish reasonable expectations within the parameters of the genre.

To paraphrase the response of all the complainers on this forum when people point out the rave reviews SWTOR has received: "yeah, and everyone knows that all those reviews and commentaries and previews are paid for by the developers." Good for the goose....

Seriously? Where in my post was I not adult-like? Where did I call anyone a fanboy?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Inflammatory word choices, friend; you'd rather pick a fight with me than carry on a good discussion. Disappointing...
