They estimated maintenance to take no longer than 7 hours. Why the hell would your estimate be unrealistic in the first place? Just say 10 hours to be safe.

When you tell your friend 8pm, and traffic slows you down meaning you arrive at 9pm is that your fault?

Something probably happened when patching, this happens, it's not the first time with TOR, or any MMO on the market.

The length of the list and number of items addressed have nothing to do with how complicated any one of those items might actually be.

BW has no respect for other people. They tell us 7 hours so we adjust our schedules then at the very last minute they decide that "hey lets waste more of peoples time and money and just string them along more". Customer server has been complete bull***** from the beginning with this game. Everything was great up until they got your money, then they just forgot about you like a used car salesman.
