They said the game wasn't overly instanced. Umm... other than Guild Wars this is the most instanced game ever.

They bragged about the billions of different customization options, totally obfuscating the fact that, in reality, your options are two genders, each with 4 human bodies with human faces, and different skin colors and hair styles.

They advertised how the consequences of your decisions were going to totally make this better than a SPRPG because there was no save button. Then they waffled and put in light-side / dark-side markers and the ability to escape-out and re-do any conversation if you don't like the outcome.

They said there were "huge open worlds that go on and on..." making it sound like the terrain was open rather than designed like a maze to hand-hold you from quest hub to quest hub.

They said being a "grey" player would be just as viable as being full light or full dark.

They said a lot of things that were either false or deceptive or got changed later.
Exactly.

I AM a major jerk and, not surprisingly, I'm proud of the fact and am not the least bit concerned whether or not people want to be my friend. I'm a little too old to care.

I don't think I'm on some kind of elite level, I simply speak exactly what I think. Which reminds me, who are you and what in the name of Me makes you think I care?

If you believe that makes me seem elite, then that speaks for itself. In reality, I am, though.

Oh, and this game is hackneyed nonsense.
I'm not bald, I'm just big-boned.

Ouch, hard to argue with it though.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

so apparently everyone was hoping for this game to have 10 years worth of content on its release? They didn't make the game and then call it quits. We will see patches and new content over the coming months. As far as bugs go...i don't know what everyone is ************ about, there's nothing that I've seen that can be considered game breaking; the bugs Ive seen are what I call "skyrim bugs" (meaning they don't break the game or make me angry) yea Ilum needs some work but I've had some pretty fun battles there and I quite enjoy warzones. Its definitely the smoothest launch for an MMO that I've ever seen. If you're going to ***** about nothing then **** of the forums the game is obviously not for you.

Short answer: No.

Long answer:
I think there were a lot of mistakes done while developing the game. The first one was concentrating about everything on the story for a large part of the development. Having a story in a MMO is straight away awesome but it is nothing which keeps you playing. Period. Me and my friends run several heroics pretty much daily but I do not now anyone who cares about the story after they finished the Flashpoint on normal mode once. Most people space the dialogues away and Bioware seems to have missed this fact.
Another mistake was how the whole story was set up in the first place. A lot of times people said stuff like "Experience your very own adventure!". In reality everyone playing the game experiences the exact same storyline as everybody else playing that class. Rerolling the same class is not fun at all and rerolling another class often ends at level 20 when people realize that their new "very own adventure" is 97% identical to their first one and the only thing that changed are the story quests.

The story downgraded the whole game. If Bioware would have concentrated less on the story there would not have been this new (and at least one time enjoyable) feature to make those who already spent years in other MMOs buy the game. If they would have concentrated more on the story aspect (by actually making our choices change something for example) there would not be anything aside from the story rendering a multiplayer useless.

I'd say the game released at least 4 month early and I do actually blame EA for forcing the release to be "this early". The game is not finished and this is ruining a lot.

I think there are 3 things Bioware must change/add if they want to keep this game alive:

1. Improve the story aspect
Make the choices I made relevant! If I want to play a dark side character don't stop by giving me a nice title. NPCs should react depending on the choices a player made in the past.

2. Improve customization
I don't know how Bioware was allowed to release a game which seems to have less character customization options than some single player games (Skyrim for example). If you want us to experience the world you crated WITH our character and not just use him as a play doll you must allow us to make him an individual.

3. Make the world be alive
If you want a lot of people to keep playing the game on a long term you'll need to add features which allow them to not just consume what they see but actually experience it.
If you'd give players more ways to interact with the world (e.g. play games in the cantina) sentences like "Wanna hang out?" might be more common in the game and actually add another layer to the triforce of MMOs (Daily quests, PVE, PVP).

Cyclonit

P.S.: I really like playing the game but I'd hate seeing this potential go to waste.

Post a verification that "it's common knowledge" please.
I had no idea of this and would like to read where your information is coming from...
Are all movie reviews also "bought out"?
Go ahead and enlighten us with your research...

Loaded question much? I hardly followed any of the pre-game coverage: I created a forum account and signed up for beta, checked the forums a few times a year. It wasn't until I tried the weekend betas that I got hooked and now I've played every day since launch.

almost no one expected this game to have 10 years of content, what they expected is features that paralleled features in other mmos, and they got something worse than vanilla wow with no mods.
