But we've explained why the GCD exists, and how it interacts with all types of abilities, and you still don't get it.

GCD have nothing to do with it
if its instant its instant its about the cast time not the cooldown
Actually this is for me instant:

let me give you an example.

the sith warrior ability Smash is an instant ability. it can be used whilst moving.

if you hit the smash button, the GCD starts, the animation starts, but the damage is NOT applied.
when the animation ends - coinciding with the end of the GCD - the damage is applied.

if between the start of the animation and the end, the warrior suffers some kind of interupt, such as from being knocked back, or other CC, the ability is effectively canceled and no damage is applied, but the abilities own cooldown is now in effect.

this is why the OP is saying that these so called "instant" abilities are instant only in name. in practice, many of them instead are 1 second or 1.5 second cast time abilities.

against a player with twitch reflexes who knows what he's doing (and more importantly, knows what your doing) this makes these abilities a serious handicap in pvp.

animations are nice candy, but give me the damage first pls.
Except that that is simply not true.

Activate Force Wave (consular AoE). It has a long animation. It doesn't land til the animation finishes, sure, but if you stunned me at the start of that animation, the knockback still happens while I'm CC'd. Can't tell you how many times that's happened to me in Huttball.

Oh, so your concern is actually the animation delay, not the GCD.

And it does, thats why MMORPG games aint considered real skillbased PvP games like RTS and FPS games. GCD creates very low skillceiling which is needed in these games to keep majority players happy cause they are really bad and not very PvP oriented.

yes, it reduces the abilities of a players to a waeak level so others can competie.. yes gw2 will have it too like msot mmos and the real skill willl be reduced but i am sure it will fail less than swtor and WONT have noob autofacing....

thats why i w8 for generals 2 an rts that doesnt reduce a player skills like in the mmos

ok, i get what your saying, but much of the problem lies with the animation delays. nothing to do with cooldowns, global or otherwise.

mounting in this game really bugs me, because i start moving as soon as the cast bar is done. the animation is not done at this point, so my moving cancels the mounting AFTER the cast bar is finished.
