at the moment though on Chuundar there is 28 ppl at the fleet, 11 at coruscant, 5 on Alderaan and 8 on Tattooine... that's all the planets I had the energy to check out:P

But my guess is there isn't even 100 republic players online right now.

At prime hours there is at most 60-70 players at the fleet

The average online population in the fleet on my server dropped over 30% in the last 3 weeks.

Quite a few people who reached 50, some even on a 2nd character, are not resubscribing for March.

Besides, with the complete release of information and footage from Guild Wars 2 yesterday which completely DESTROYS SWTOR in almost everything except maybe story, and even then GW2 seems to be doing quite well there too, and for NO SUBSCRIPTION.

Except SW fans, I can't see who is going to continue paying 15$/month for almost nothing to do, not in 2012. WoW got away with it because it was first of the new gen, but SWTOR is the last of that gen.

I haven't seen any indications that it is growing either. At lesat not on my server. If population is growing it's on Imp side.

It seems to me at least that it's decreasing rather than growing.

However I did an experiment just now.

My server republic Chuundar fleet at this very moment 31, STANDARD

Bloodworthy server imp same time also STANDARD 137...

That is a HUUUUUUUUUUGE faction imbalance right there

Take note of the Population change column. Significantly more +x.xx than -x.xx
I looked at that. Honestly, what it truly shows is that server population is fairly stable....some up a tiny bit, some down a tiny bit here and there. People whining about it as dropping from the sky DOOM DOOM DOOM are full of nonsense ideas stuffed into their heads by reading the forums or as a result of their frustration for not being able to group up instantaneously for a FP or HM they want to do. All it takes is 5 minutes on this forum to recognize that the people complaining like this want things NAO NAO NAO NAO NAO!!!!!....and not only does that go for bug fixes or things like customizable UI or combat logs, but it also goes for their play style: more than 10 minutes looking for a group and their minds immediately start looking for rationalizations..."oh, server pop is a disaster and shrinking!!!!....we need an LFG auto-grouping tool or the game is going to fail cuz that will fix everything even though the real reason I can't find a group is because it just happens that nobody wants to do that particular dungeon right tis second the way I do!!!!"

I watched some of those vids.

If I wanted to play a cow race I'd be playing WoW.
If I wanted to play a kiddie game I'd play Hello Kitty.
If I wanted to play a game that tells me end game is going back to old areas and have my level reduced and not benefit from gear, I'd play GW2.

ANetians...

OT:

Server pop is fine.

I'm sure most of it was dumped into running all those television ads over the past several years.

This! Guys, just enjoy the game or quit, but stop whining. It amazes me the how people can go crazy over things that they cant even measure.

I remember people saying the same thing in Aion before the server merges, I wonder hos that turned out...
Relabeling future patches as Expansions, just like EA Louse said a year ago. Who got the last laugh?

Isn't Aion still online and profitable?

really? They said "I look at something that is measuring server population and noticed that on average it is showing fairly stable populations"? That's suprising, beacuse with Aion, the population exodus was fairly drastic and objectively measurable prior to mergers...here, it appears to be non-existant on avearage and existing in two places: (1) the minds of people who are being overly pessimistic and (2) in posts from people actively trying to destroy the game.

Fact: SWTOR has smaller server population caps than certain other games. Working as intended. Don't like it? Don't play. Don't like it? Go away and stop trying to ruin everyone else's fun with your constant crybabby act on the forums.
