Legacy surnames do not make sense

Yet another example of where gameplay design took a backseat to the quickest, laziest way to check off a feature list on the box. They took something as simple as a text string in a database field and turned into a monkey *********** a football.

I've pondered on it.

Maybe my Chiss is a cousin-in-law of my Sith's mom.

If you don't like your surname you can just decide to hide it. My biggest problem, I am agreeing, is that there's no way to change it. Other than that, I kinda like it.

I would like if they kept the legacy system but gave us a slot for character surnames as well. For example, I can name my Sentinel Malandra Vuli and name my Shadow Katara Otium and both could still use the "Flyers legacy" title. I think that would give us, the players, more choice and flexibility, especially for RPers.

As an RPer, it's absolutely dreadful. I can make it stretch with one character per faction, but that's it. Anything more than that is just outlandish. I simply hide the surname and just deal with the fact that only one of my character's is allowed to have a last name.

As a few others have said, my only issue is that I was a little hasty picking my surname because the damn box kept popping up every time I zoned!

A day or so later, I thought of the name I would really have wanted, but there's no way to change it now.

I hate my surname...and I cannot chang eit, I also hate how my surname is a relation to my account and not to my character.

Like it was already posted, how can a human and a twi'lek have the same surname....racially alone the names would be different.

I love the idea and potential it has. It's a really neat feature.

However, it is annoying trying to come up with a name that's suitable for 5 different species.

I mean...I really doubt my human, chiss, sith, twi'lek, miralukan are all related anyway so I don't see why they should share a last name. They don't even all speak the same language. >.>

As a RP'er on a RP realm...it's a bit of an issue.

I agree I think each toon should get his/her own surname at lvl 30.

i like it because if i group with a guy named "dick ramrod" and he is an idiot, i can boot every "ramrod" i see in my groups from that point on without suffering the stupidity that is obviously going to come.

also, its a given with a name like that, nothing good will come.
