There would be nothing wrong with allowing you to start a character at lv.20 or so once you met the required Legacy level. At least let us skip the god awful starting zones that are even more boring than the rest of the lifeless, static worlds.

It's a moot point really, as I have 1 day left on my subscription and will never be returning. Commence your fanboy goodbye responses if you must.
If you don't like the game, fine, leave! Just stop crying. Go level up another alt in WoW, leveling is much more exciting in there!.. :X

I've had enough of mindless, boring killing x number of NPC enemies and turning in their eyeballs. How about you throw three factions into a huge starting area, and the first quest you get is "Bring me 5 enemy heads". So you go out, and you PvP to get those enemy heads.

Seriously, PvE is so damn boring and I don't know why people still find it interesting after playing WoW for 7 years. Or any other MMO for that matter. It just boggles the mind.
ummm the market disagrees with you. PVP MMOs have been and always will be a small part of the MMO market.

So because you want a PVP MMO you want them to not have part of the legacy system?

There's a game like what he's describing.

It's called WarHammer online.

Well, to some degree I have to agree while at the same time I don't really want to ;-)

Over the last 10, well, almost 11 years of MMOing I've always kept an eye on what a specific race is offering when creating a new character, whether that may be looks, base stats, boni...

so yes, I have played (and am still playing) characters where I haven't chosen the race that I potentially would have loved to play but the one that made most sense.

SWTOR doesn't fall into that trap: the races are really just cosmetic... which on the other hand is a bit sad as the races ARE different based on lore...

As I said: it would be nice if there was 'more' to a race, while at the same time I'm glad that I don't have to curse the game and its designers for stat-modding just that particular race that I'd like to play the wrong way...

Why would I ever want to grind through the mind-numbingly boring side quests all over again just to have a character of a different race that was already in the game to begin with? ...
Wow, I'm impressed... as to how limited yopur vision is!

I assume you've only played one (1) faction? Probably Imp? And you'd never play Rep because they are losers?

Gotcha...

Right... now here is the deal: you don't actually have to do ALL the side quests... I assume that is news to you?

Well, I guess I was fortunate: I played my 1st character mostly solo. Which meant I skipped a good many Heroic2/2+/4 quests.

Next character, yeah, I dropped into that hole: 'What? Same quests again?' as I picked the other class of my initial starting planet.

But then I found that obviously I hadn't done most of those Heroic quests... so I got a nice mix out of it with new-ish class quests and side quests not done... with very little boredom!

Now, even if you jumped into the pit and did all the quests available the first time around, guess what: you have a completely different faction you can play under! Which actually means not just new class quests but also new side quests!

Obviously, if you are not in the mood to give the other side a chance, well, that is up to you...

The point where I'd say BW has f'd up is that either they didn't educate people enough in limiting themselves as far as questing goes, or that BW actually wasn't smart enough to not take into consideration all those 'instant gratification' kids who need to have their character in 'endgame' within a week or 2 max.

Imagine if SWTOR was a grind game in that sense that you actually need to do pretty much every quest in order to actually get enough XP to lvl up to 50 - or in other words: what if today, 2 months after release, the most powerful characters were around level 30? Yes, because it takes that long to level your character...

Aside from all those who need their 'endgame' fix, most people wouldn't actually have noticed any of the 'endgame' issues that are in SWTOR right now... and what's more: they would probably have just as much fun doing lower level PvP (or potentially even more fun)... so:

BRING THE GRIND BACK!

Seriously, this is not the worst idea I ever heard, but it is well located in the BS section:

A game where your first mission is to go PvP... you want to bet how long that would last?

See, the thing is that with such a game you are pretty much lost when you are not in at the initial start! If you spawn by yourself as a lvl1 guy, well, chances are very good that your only enemies will be higher level... or that you have to stalk the grounds waiting for other noobs to show... which potentially you could then fight and eventually complete your first quest...

Game designers have understood that players need a few level of carebear-ing before they can go PvP... DAoC even was perfectly smart about the whole thing making your own realm a pure PvE zone... I mean why would you want to beat up your buddy from the same realm anyways? (Except for fun duelling of course)

Another issue with a pure PvP game is also rather obvious: what if nobody's there?

Example:

Questgiver: 'Go and kill 5 members of faction X in location Y'

You enter location Y and see... nothing... except for 20 other people from your faction waiting for people from faction X to show up...

Sadly faction X has maybe a population of 20 people compared to 250+ on the other faction(s)... just because people don't like faction X!

So, seriously, dear LightningLord, after playing MMOs for more than 10 years (and never having played a single minute WoW!) I still love PvE very much, thank you.

Maybe the issue rests with you playing WoW? Ever thought about that?

Actually, I have a lv.50 Trooper, lv.30 Gunslinger, and a lv.30 Mercenary. So nice try, assumptions are awesome.

I've played nearly every MMO in the book, from EQ to WoW to Aion to Rift to SWTOR. You can go ahead and believe me, I really don't care. Honestly the most fun I've had in PvE was LotRO.

I haven't played WoW in over a year and won't play it again, but that was another nice assumption. Unless you meant that by playing WoW, I came to realize crappy PvE content when I saw it? Then yes, you are correct.

The irony is that the people that drove Warhammer Online into the ground are the ones working on SWTOR. Have fun with that

Played it for four years. Love the game.

It's just time for me to leave fantasy for a bit and pick up some guns again.
