It's a status symbol.
"Look at me, I'm a chiss warrior! I have a high legacy level and am better than you!"
Personally, I look forward to showing off. Stop complaining.

Not the same as what they're doing with Legacy races. Allowing someone to make a Twi'lek Bounty Hunter or Chiss Warrior is not the same as allowing them to have an entirely new experience in the game.

All it does is change what their character looks like.
DeathKnights where supposed to be 1 of 8 different Hero classes that was supposed to be in WoW in the first year.

Want to talk about half assed.

Basically no new races. If I see a Sith pureblood Jedi there will be murders...

At least it was something new and not just re-using what was already in the game.

then don't look at the Jedi Knights companions.

No new races in 1.2 but they said new races would come.

except it wasn't anything new. They didn't even let you level up from level 1 because they didn't want to add new content.

Exactly the same as what they've doing with Hero Classes. Allowing someone to make an Orc or Night Elf Death Knight is exactly the same as allowing them to have an entirely new experience in the game.

All it does is change what their character looks like, and changes quest dialogue, and possible voiceovers.
This is much more logical.

Why? Don't most MMOs only introduce new races in expansions? I know SWG and WoW did. I don't know how you can expect SWTOR to be any different.

No, they didn't make you level from Lv.1 because they realized that people wouldn't want to. Which is exactly the problem in this game. Leveling is horrendously boring the second time you have to do it. I have a Lv.50 character and two characters in their 30's. Why would I ever want to grind through the mind-numbingly boring side quests all over again just to have a character of a different race that was already in the game to begin with? If Bioware is smart, they'll allow you to change the race of your character at least once, once you get to the required Legacy level. Or allow you to create a character at level 20 or something, like DAoC did. But they won't, as their idea of end game is leveling alts.
