Graphics Issue - Hair Stretching

Sorry for the weird title, but I'm not sure to explain what is happening here.

I've tried playing this game with a Radeon 5700, 2 5700's in a Crossfire configuration, and finally with an Nvidia 560Ti card. 5700 was okay, crossfire was a no go, it made the map blink like crazy. Nvidia 560Ti is the best luck I've had yet, as it is a newer card I could run all settings on high.

But throughout all of these cards I still get a bizarre bug. There is a pacing NPC outside of the Jedi Temple in the starting area (Republic side). When approached from a distance, his hair literally stretches upwards towards the sky. It looks like a loot beam (except that it is black and threaded looking).

When approached closer, his hair blinks away, leaving him bald and then blinks back.

I've duplicated this issue several times with different graphics cards, and even different installations of SWTOR.

At this point, I pretty much give up with this, and other graphical glitches this game is doing. It is getting kind of absurd. Are there any plans on fixing these? Feel bad letting this game go, had great hopes for it, but unless the engine at least gets in workable form soon, I think it is time to move on and consider this a failure. :-(

I did, more than once. Ages ago. That's why I was posting here. Because my tickets are ignored. Oh well. I'll play other games until this one is polished up a bit.

I've actually started a few Republic alts last night, so am very familiar with the area you are mentioning. However, I am not seeing the graphical glitch you are. You mention you have tried several different cards. Did you try several different driver versions?

I mention this because I do remember seeing similar graphical glitches a little less than 2 months ago when I updated my graphics drivers. I backed down a version, and it went away. NVIDIA does have a section on their site where you can download older driver versions if you need to.

My own card, for reference, is a 250 GTS and I run driver 270.61. I am aware that driver is not the latest. But it works great "for me" ... and I am all about if it aint broke don't fix, heh.

This can be a problem associated with the gfx card overheating, are you sure your coolings all okay?

It looks like it is only with one specific mob, so I'm thinking it is a server side bug. Definitely not overheating, I have 12 fans, set to high and the temp. reading on the 560Ti is low.

For driver, I have the latest beta driver... so I'll give downgrading a try to the stable one. When testing on a system with a Radeon 5700 series, it was just the latest Catalyst driver... do not remember the version.

Specifics are:

EVGA Nvidia 560Ti
Driver: 295.51 Windows 7 64 bit

This is the latest one, released on 1/31/12. Fairly new. The current stable driver is 285.62 from 10/24/11. I'll give that one a try and let all know if it fixes the issue. Thanks.

At least you get hair. Since I play a Sentinel and a Sage I get suck with hoods all the time. (which removes the hair layer)

I'm bald. ;_;

Well, for an update I rolled back to the normal Nvidia driver version and the bug persists. I tried every combination of graphics settings, the bug persists.

I then went to check the ticket I opened as it had the coordinates, etc. and guess what...

The ticket had vanished.

So really, I give up on this game. Enough is enough. I spent the money, I wasted the money I'll get over it. There are other games to play. This one is far too buggy for my taste. Sort of sad, I really had my hopes set on it.

Thanks for all of the answers and take care all, in whatever games you play!
