I hope that at some point-in-time they lets us play as DROIDS.

I was a little surprised that I could not play as one from the get go.

But what are your thoughts? What races do you want to play as?

None of those are gonna happen. The devs have stated that with voiced content they don't want non-standard speaking races as players. Imagine how old Ortolan or Jawa speech would get over 50 levels of quest dialog. And the droids would either be the same thing, or a protocol droid... and how heroic would that be?

Why would you want to play as a possession?
In Star Wars, droids are one step below slaves. They have no legal right to self-determination, let alone possessions, free travel and so on.

Then again, in Star Wars Jedis take vows of poverty but we don't see that in the game. Sometimes gameplay trumps lore. I guess the same could be done for droid player characters.

cathar for repub, voss for empire

yoda/wookie species implemented in legacy system.
Story is so important i sold starwars to disney and asked jj abrams to direct the new star wars film....and that is why we cant have faction change!
