Thoughts on a solo instance

I personally think there's a dogmatic view of MMO grouping that's actually hurting the grouping community.

Let's say there's a great piece of armor, and two instances to get it.

One is an easier instance, that has you fighting easier mobs, but at the end of the instance you get the gear.

The other is a group instance, that has you fighting mobs 4 times as hard, but gives 4 times the xp (split 4 ways, making it even out). At the end you get the same gear.

Imagine how much more fun that group instance would be if all the people that are only in it for the gear are over in the solo instance. Every person in your group is in it because they like to group, and they enjoy the challenge and they enjoy the cooperation.

I think adding the solo instance would improve grouping, not hurt it, because it would make the experience itself much, much better.

And if the counter argument is, "If you do that, nobody would do the group content just because the other way is easier" then my question is, why waste the time developing group content if group content isn't what people want to play? I think they do want to play it. And I think letting the experience of the adventure be the incentive, the quality of grouping would improve dramatically.

Again, just my probably wrong opinion.
"I know."

Umm.. have you NOT leveled from 1 - 50?

good portion of quest in planet is solo instanced - that the one where you pass thru green glowing doorway.

In fact, I think all the "end-of-quest-line" are instanced.

And you can tell they are solo cause it doesn't have [HEROIC #]

And I do believe almost ALL class quest are instanced.

Sooo.... wanting something we been doing pretty much for whole time since launch is laughable?

Your sig needs a bit more thought too imo
One instance. You think thats it? This is just the beginning. Next will be a solo instance for each multiplayer instance they add because I mean once they add a new raid instance with better gear they will have to also add a new solo instance with equivilant gear.

Maybe instead they should add more multiplaying content so the OP doesnt get bored instead of making single player content in an MMO. That I would have no problems with.

The OP said it himself "This would have to almost be a totally new game in that it would take a lot of work to design.". You really want them to make a new game and spend all this time on it to make it solo. Its an MMO.

Would also like to know what the OP really expects the rewards to be from this solo instance. Also how would you balance it between tanks healers and DPS.

There would be tons off QQ threads about the rewards are not the same as raid rewards or that they are to hard for certain classes with companions they prefer as to other classes whick in returns just means a dumbed down version that good players can clear in 30 mins instead of the 7 hours it takes casual baddies to do it. Which in returns means even more nerfs so they can do it in their casual playtime of 30 mins.

This game is already to much of a single player game, no reason to make it more of one. Maybe they can just make it playable offline also so I dont have to pay a sub for a single player game.

My sig is just stating something by all the fanboiz of this game in the forums prove.
If this game is so great then why do so many people that love the game spend all their time in the forums?

It's an MMO, or at least trying to be one. The entire basis of these games is grouping with other players. In fact, I'd argue that is their only real appeal because the graphics and gameplay tend to be below whatever else is currently available on the market.

BW wants to encourage grouping because it's to their benefit. Games like this live and die by simple network effects -- basically, you keep paying a sub to hang out with friends in-game.

The more people you know, the more you group, the more valuable the game becomes to you & everyone else. (For similar reasons, this is why services like Facebook are popular and widely used, even by people who claim to hate it. Same goes for WoW).
"Sounds like you could use a soldier."

As I have said before there is to much solo play in this game and not enought MMO. 99% of anyones gameplay is solo with their companion and the companion doesnt mean its not solo.

If everything is solo why would you pay a sub to play online. To run an operation that take 1-2 hours to finish.

You have made too much sense for these people to comprehend.

+1 for solo dungeons.

CAUTION: DO NOT LOAD SWTOR UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTER-MARKET COOLING INSTALLED!!

There is already too much solo content available.

If you want to see what a solo FP would be like just take your 50 toon and run a low level flashpoint solo.

Seriously, why not log & play Torchlight instead?
Many MMOs offer endgame solo instances, say, Aion. Still, it's a bad idea.
I don't judge a game by how old or new it is, I judge it by what it is when it is presented to me.

Question isn't that there are too much or not enough solo play.

Or that BW should or should not force player to do more or less of grouping at endgame.

I am asking that is it laughable or even strange that asking for something lot of us have been doing for a long time, and I dare say enjoyed doing it?

I mean I am not new to the forums, and I know the proper way to handle any kind of question is to belittle then say L2P, but this seems little weird cause I know lot of people really liked leveling part of this game so far.

That's the entirety of your previous post and what I replied to. I'm actually not sure if it would be a good or bad thing to have a solo flashpoint/raid. I guess it depends on too many factors. Possibly some of the very same factors you pointed out. However I don't see the harm in someone asking for a single one though.

P.S. No, your sig is inflammatory and intentionally so. As are the majority of your posts (post history FTW). Just remember, having opinions doesn't make you Yoda (still trying to learn that myself )
