I dont get why people are so upset. Its not like they are implementing gearscore (which is the worst add on of all time) Only reason I say that is Ive seen players pull better numbers with a worse gearscore. Gearscore is a superficial judge where a dps help create beauty on the inside.

Here we go. The wow idiots want the game to play itself, every launch, every time this comes up. If you can't figure out in 3 minutes whether somebody sucks or not, I got news for you, you're beyond a meter.

God do I hope this is sarcasm. A damage meter will tell you if someone is auto following another player? Wouldn't your eyes do that too?

Went nearly 2 days without see the "oh we need a meter to do this cause we don't know how" crap....I think that is a record.

Lol you can see auto follow with your eyes. Dps meter allows you to see deeper into a person play style so you can help them improve.

While I ask this, there would also be nice with some kind of threat meter, if that exists.

This thread is not about damage meters beeing bad or good, useful or if they will destroy the game.

I just simply want someone friendly to point me in the right direction.

I could take a PM if you don't want to give the others the information..

Thank you.

(edit: Now I understand that there are no addons yet, but that we probably will get them later on when the combat log system is avaliable. From there, bioware will most likely add this feature themselves.)
Disclaimer here, I have never used this tool I am linking. I have heard it works on many MMO's as an Out of Game parser. Personally I'm not all that much for parsing, but to each their own. Either way, hope you enjoy the game.

Id agree that we didn't need a DPS meter... IF there was not enrage timers on bosses. Only way it becomes a none issue and that the tactics of the fight become more important than tunnel vision.

To other types of addons, DBM and the like, no way. But that's just me.

They have stated only quest helper and a dps meter will be added.

If my raid beats the enrage timer = good for us
If our raid doesn't beat the enrage timer = gear issue
If we wipe before enrage = someone stood in fire.

My favorite line so far in this thread:

"And yes there is ALWAYS a best rotation, this is a role-playing game, there are stats, and numbers are numbers." (emphasis mine)

A role-playing game (RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting, or through a process of structured decision-making or character development. - Wiki

It's funny how far off the RPG track MMOs have gone. It's become more of a roll-playing game to many it seems. Characters are just placeholders for stats, and story is just a hurdle to the next objective. It seems it's all about How and none about Why.

(Sounds like he'd have just as much fun in a crate-stacking game min/maxing crate-stacking methods, geometry, etc.)

Roll on!

P.S. Yes, I know the OP was just asking if/where a certain tool could be located. This is more an aside commentary to a hijacked thread.
