I could be mistaken, but there is no compass on the map. so the north/south distinction is arbitrary. on voidstar, i guess you can assume that the offence spawn is the south, but that is an assumption, and i could just as easily assume the opposite. for the other maps, there is no reason i can tell to assume one side as north over the other. this is why everyone defaults to right/left of the spawn location. the maps are simple, and you can never be confused unless you try and over complicate with an assumed cardinal direction. tl;dr how do you know which way is north?

The "top" part of the map is north. If the map orientation changed I think most would concede that is a reasonable argument to not use East/West.

I'm almost surprised no one has asked BW to fix it... such as givinig names to the turrets and doors (which appear at the location and on the map) Note: I don't think that BW should have to fix anything related to this, a call for a fix would just be consistant with some of the forum suggestions

That's because there is no controversy. You are looking at the only like, 10 people in this whole game who are "outraged" by the "stupidity" of the players in this game. Meanwhile the rest of us are busy successfully defending the hard to call 2 door Voidstar map, you know the one where you can actually stand in a spot in the middle and see both doors by simply pivoting your camera and see which one needs help regardless of a call...

Compass directions are viable anywhere in life (as well as any swtor map). Open your map... top is north, left is west, right is east, bottom is south. Here is the kicker... this is true for every map! Tough concept to grasp for people I know. It seems there is a group of people that would rather make up their own directions based on spawn positions and somehow think that's easier. I'll just continue to ignore people that say "Inc Left/Right". Chances are they don't know what they are doing in pvp anyway.
