BioWare: "most" people aren't having SWTOR performance issues

I myself have been playing this for a little over a month. I've been up and down the web looking at different tweaks and forums about performance issues and how to resolve them. I have a very good computer and internet connection, take a look for yourselves. To me, unless it's something on my end it's unacceptable that I drop as low as 15 fps in some areas.

You are right probably MOST aren't, but many are. Lots of people also don't realize they are acting having a problem. I bet somewhere between 10-15% of people who have more then minimum specs are having some kind of performance issue. I know at least 10 people from a guild of 50 who quit because of how the game performs. Sure that's not most of the guild, but that's a lot no matter how you spin it.

Yeah, its depressing how I can barely play warzones. Even going to the imperial fleet is a mess.

As someone who knows how to build and overclock systems laptops are POS. Why?

Because their compact design causes them to suffer from heat issues.

Because unlike a desktop you cannot drop a custom cpu cooler to allow for large overclocks.

Because their "mobility" graphics is a gimped POS compared to the equivalent desktop card. Both Nvidia and AMD play the stupid numbering system with their vid cards that most consumers have no idea what they mean unless they carefully research.

Most of these posts are hilariously funny because people think their system is "good". Well most of them are not for serious gaming.

If you want the best performance for the buck dump the laptop and build your own desktop, preferably with a single card solution. Crossfire/SLI always are behind compared to a single card solution because the performance is highly dependent on the video drivers and game.

ALL laptops are giant heatsinks. Aside from suspending it in liquid nitrogen it will never give you the performance of a a well built and set up PC .

The term gaming laptop is a lose term , yeah it will play games but so does my phone. You will never reach performance levels of a mid grade rig just based on power consumption and heat distribution.

You do not need a well built PC to run this game at 60 FPS with high settings and zero issues. A good gaming laptop will do it just fine. Anything more is overkill. Welcome to the modern era of laptops.

You need enough computer to run this game at 60 fps on high settings with no visible latency. Anything more is wasted metal and plastic. A well designed laptop plays the game at 60 fps with zero issues. I know, because I play on one. No heat issues, no lag, no stuttering, all wth stock settings right out of the box.

Those laptops you are talking about are in excess of $1500. Not only that, but laptop go out-of-date even faster than desktops because their graphics cards are significantly weaker and most cannot be updated.

If you want to be picky, it also depends on the native resolution of the laptop.

Most people are not spending that kind of money on their laptops.
