Luckily im in a guild and wont need you.
Did you know that people with mods still tend to hit random buttons which are not OK..

I personally do not PUG. I play with my guild and try to avoid people who have no idea what to do.

Admit it tho.. Games were much more fun before all the mods that tell you what to do came along...

To actually figure out how an encounter work and what to do when the boss is about to make a special move..

Not like in a specific mmo where a BIG text pops on your screen and says.. bla bla bla is preparing to do this.. Move and do this to avoid being hit

Welp folks, it has been nice talking with you, getting the different opinions and different views as well as a better understanding of the topic.. but sadly.. it is 2:20 am here.. my brain is mush.. I'm almost falling asleep in my chair... and I need to be up in 4 hours to make it in for work (where I get to sit at a computer all day monitoring meters, graphs and making/reading spreadsheets )....

Take care, have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night, whichever it may be for you.

First off we are only talking about a damage meter, not addons in general. Second which has been stated a few times in this thread, we acknowledge that you don't need damage meters to play well but you need damage meters to play your best, its simple fact that a person with a damage meter will out perform somebody without one given equal skill.

Yes but you need to know when what you are doing isn't working and you can accomplish that by measuring the speed of the ball.

Very easily, WoW dumbed down the raiding game to macros/crutches/facerolling. Nice achievement. Mostly linear and boring High end fights. But eh, at least you can brag about who does the highest dps or the most healing ><.

Many people who are more successful in life might disagree with you. Also this is a game not life, the game is designed using mathematics so technically it is already a spreadsheet.

Theres nothing in the EULA stopping people from using Fraps / Stop Watch / Excel. Thats how I did it back in the day pre WoW addons...

Have you tried any of the high end content from cataclysm? A lot of it is rather dynamic.

Slippery slope they call it... First starts with DPS meters. Then tanks complain that can't keep up with holding aggro because everyone is trying to out DPS each other. Recklessly jumping the gun pulling aggro, etc. So BW has to add Threat meters because people are too stupid to tell when they should or not attack. Then that just opens the flood gates to dumb down even more the raiding scene because hey why stop with DPS meters and Threat meters.

Please explain how a damage metere makes people lazy, I really would like to hear your answer on that one. While I agree some mods are complete overkill, and shouldn't be allowed in a game, a damage meter is very much not one of them. IF ANYTHING it make people work harder to better themselves at perfecting their rotation/dps/output/whatever.
