I'm with OP, it would be nice to see "life happening" in the game. Wether it be day & night cycles, weather, or just people walking around more often then not.
life has nothing to do with day and night. The moon has day and night and yet there is no life on it.

Look at all the MMOs that have day night cycles do all their worlds feel alive? Does Vanguard Saga of Heros feel alive?

No I wish my load screen to Voss wasn't 10 minutes, or that I didn't have to do the hyper space marathon when I go to Ilum. Those are key elements that would make the world more engaging. But hey man whatever floats your RP boat... Skyrim is cool btw.

Your problem is your definition of life, to you life is sentient beings living on a planet, but to people like me, life is also the universe itself doing what it's supposed to do, whether that be asteroids and comets flying around, or planets orbiting one another.

It's not just about day/night cycles, since this game is supposedly built to feel more like a single player game (voice overs and whatnot) why not add other elements to it as well like NPC's living their lives on the planet, stuff that you see in games like Skyrim.

Not a single MMO that i can think of that has day/night cycle has painted backgrounds like this

Can you think of one?

I'm betting you can't.

Sure let's have day and night cycles because all the planets in the universe have day and night at the exact same time....

What? Oh.."each planet can have it differently" you say? Then I ask...do people want the same day night cycles as they have on earth? Or is there a smarter way to implement this?

Let's hear it.

Skyrim drives the graphics harder, certainly - in some ways I like the graphical DESIGN better here, but, Skyrim renders more complex graphics. And uses a DN cycle. HOWEVER, the target machine for Skyrim is more powerful than that of TOR, which means the comparison isn't all that direct.

And Skyrim could have looked better still with baked in lighting.

- Skyrim needs better hardware.
- Skyrim uses it as a mechanic - and if they weren't they would probably have abandoned DN cycles in favour of better quality environmental art.
