Mechanical advantages? No. Decent useability throughout my career? Yes. Most of what was given was and is worse than useless junk, and you can't even sell it. Just destroy it. The only thing I haven't destroyed outright is the stap, and the crystal and the crystal gets destroyed in fairly short order.

It isn't hard to have something scale as you level. If Cryptic can do it in STO... there is no excuse for a company with the budget BW had, not to be able to do it. Give an example. In STO you can get an old school hand phaser that scales with your level. No.. it will never be as good as something at your level.. but it is close enough that it allows people who want to stay with the old school feeling, not to be horridly gimped in doing it (just slightly gimped).

The crystal could have been done like that, making it something useable past at best level 17.

I won't even get into the horrid color choice they made for it. That is a different issue all by itself.

Just my thoughts on the subject. If you are going to reward people for pre-ordering your product, at least make it useable through the life of the product. Not something you toss away at the first possible opportunity.

Yes the crystal leveling with you would be nice.

I just don't understand why people think that spending more money on an MMO or on it earlier (I DO NOT MEAN people that started before some one else.) should some how reward them ingame...you know where everyone is expected to have an equal playing field game-wise. I dont mean your rig/connection whatever else.

I did not order a CE for SWTOR b/c I didnt have the money at the time. I do own it for SWG/WoW(vanilla,bc,wotlk,cata). All of those gave me the WoW/swg equivalent of what you mentioned....And much better "loot" in the actual CE box...
