My system is very similar to yours, with a few differences

Haf x case
Asus Maximus iv mobo
Corsair H80 Water cooler

While the game does have more crashes than anything else I've been running, it really would appear that your OC and cooling are the issue.

Hung_H and Tchewi, do you realize how many cooling fans are in the HAF932?

Here's an update: My system is still bluescreening at 4.4GHz, and that was simply browsing. I'm now at 4.0GHz and am quite pissed.

To reiterate, my system was ROCK SOLID before all this. You can see I'm a new member here. I have no reason to lie or exaggerate.

This is just a bunch of bull. I run the exact saem setup, except for 2x Zotac 460s and Archon cooler on 2600k @4.4. with Dual screens @ 1900-1200, one of which with swtor.

First of all, CPU usage never goes ovet 50%, it's steady @ 35-40% during raids and pvp. CPU temp is never over 45.

2600k can be OC'ed to 4.4 without any voltage changes with default ram settings, 4.5+ requires increased voltage, which is probably what you did (or didn't do correctly) leading to an unstable system.

The only way for a game to damage your hardware is to overheat it, which isn't the case.

Save a full crash dump, get debugger, parse it, see what crashes it during normal use.

For the love of God, read my op again. Did I not explain clearly enough or at least partially demonstrate the level of competence I have?

I'm not some gangly kid who's just started doing this.

Actually I'm not even sure why I'm trying to explain. The evidence is out there. If you haven't begun experiencing the problems I have then congratulations. I sincerely hope you don't in the future.

I'll sign off with just one more good luck to you all, and a link to this article:

I'm sorry, but in all seriousness, if you (a computer salesman) are implying that a stable running game can damage hardware, then (the polite way to say this) you need to read up on things and advance from 1994 to 2012.

Look, I hope I'm wrong. I hope the inability for my system to run as well as it did before I purchased Star Wars The Old Republic is nothing more than a coincidence. That's how much I admire the game. It's a shame, really. But I've been on this earth for far too long, have built and maintained and sold and perfected far too many a gaming system, and have learned far too many things about what to do and what not to do to not recognize this situation for what it is: SWTOR looks like a cartoon, yet demands like a vision of the Ark of the Covenant.

It's frankly quite ridiculous and I refuse to have my face melted.
You overclocked and now you blame the game for cooking your cpu ?

No offense, but aim your gun somewhere else please

People who aren't overclocking are getting heat issues too.

So gun firmly pointed at consistent factor in this equation ---> SWTOR client.

CAUTION: DO NOT LOAD SWTOR UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTER-MARKET COOLING INSTALLED!!

My resolution is 1920x1080@60hz with all setting turned to max and I VERY rarely drop anywhere below 35fps, even when looking out to the horizon on planets such as Taris. Now, my GTX460 has a core overclock to 800 and I nudged the core volts up to 1050 to compensate for that (no driver crashes), but even that shouldn't make me run circles around your 2600K and SLi'd 460's.

My CPU temps spike to 60c and my GPU temps hit ~68c. No liquid cooling, stock cooler on my CPU, Intel TB turned on, XMP memory profiled and seated on a Gigabyte mobo.

Again, seems like the K's are getting the short end of the stick.

Edit: I do have Vsync on or I tear so freakin' bad because I'm using an LCD HDTV as my display.

i7 2600K here. Runs fine no issues. If the GPU gets hot it usually has two reasons: 1. overclock a GPU - does not give you more than 1-2 FPS anyways. Makes me laugh. 2. You override AA with external tools and use SuperSampling. The engine does not support it and the chip will melt through the PCB.

If used in MSAA usually fine, just Alderaan and Voss are taxing and hot since the leaves for whatever stupid reason throw their own shadows. It also reduces FPS signifcantly. In those areas I run blob shadows as workaround. But yeah the game is dangerous for hardware or can be. I think BW knows this and that is also the reason why they removed hires and AA originally. Check GPU temps in cutscenes. Wait for a dialog choice and let it sit there for a while monitoring your temps. Unbelievable. It's amateur BS if you ask me. I would have expected an AWEFUL lot more from BW.

P.S.: Although I agree to an extent I also live by the following: If I feel I need to overclock my system I know it's time to upgrade. But that's just me.

LAWL! Stable. Oh my, that's funny. You know what's stable? Not playing this game. Playing STO, DCUO, and every OTHER game is more stable than playing this one.
