Fixed that for you

I like apple fine, but I wouldn't buy one for my gaming rig, and I certainly wouldn't bother asking for a game to be ported to it.

It unnecessarily complicates support and patching and I hope the rest of us don't have to suffer because of any porting effort.

EQ put the mac users on their own server for a very good reason.

I'm still a bit on the fence, even after looking online and checking for any downsides of using bootcamp besides what I already know. If I get the chance, I will visit the Apple Store and see if they won't mind going into detail on this topic for me. Thanks, by the way, for posting the Boot Camp Thread. I still hope Bioware will release a version for the mac so that I can use my computer for the sole purpose it was made for: that usage of products that are solely for mac and Apple components. What is basically mixing OS X and Windows just still doesn't seem to have an easy ending in my mind.

Well, Blizzard and CCP have no issues with it on the same server, and Bioware's said they want to do it too, so they must also have a good reason. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to do it at the expense of the rest of the players so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I put together a custom laptop for my wife who's navy, it runs SWTOR at high and gets fine frames, around 40-50 average in non crowded zones, cost 1300 bucks.

I priced a laptop with the Exact same specs from the apple webpage, and it cost over 2400 bucks. Man, OSX better be one Hell of an operating system.
"Above all else; we must have faith in our path." My wife ordered us both Collector's Edition's..

Bioware wishes to overrun Blizzard's MMO WoW. I can easily see Bioware surpassing WoW with Swtor, but if they really want an all around better and much more powerful game they are going to have to appeal toward some other audiences that you may seem and 'minor,' 'worthless,' or 'unimportant for this area of comp usage.' Plus, Bioware had had made kotor for mac also. From what i can tell, swtor is going to be bringing in a lot more money that kotor did so honestly, w/ or w/o bootcamp as an option, they are going to have a version for mac.

If you want to buy a Mac because you like Macs, that's cool and I won't hold it against you. Macs have strengths over Windows PCs in areas.

If you want to buy a Mac for things that it doesn't do because Macs are cool bro and then ask everyone to cater to you, that's when I start having a problem.

Part of buying a computer is researching your needs and what works best for them.
Buying a machine that does not do what you need and then expecting companies to bend to your decision is the wrong way to shop.

That's why when people always ask me "You're in IT, what PC would you buy? I was thinking about getting a (expensive computer)" I usually ask "Well what do you plan on doing with it?"
9 times out of 10 it's "email and facebook". Any machine will do that. No reason to spend $3000 on a laptop to email and facebook.

What did you want your computer to do? If you answered "gaming" then you made the wrong decision picking up a Mac.
Why would you buy a Ferrari to take offroading?

You might have seen a developer quote I haven't but, there are alot of things BioWare has said they will "look into" or equally non-committal statements that posters understandably inflate into "planning to" or more definitive promises. For the sake of Mac users, I hope I am wrong but, seriously check comments like that closely, it's rare that they promise much.
"I really wanted to bring in the three BioWare pillars to the online space. Those are represented by story, by the player's choice in story, and by characters. Those are the three big things that I felt weren't really well represented in the MMO space." - James Ohlen

Fundamentally, it will come down to whether it's financially worthwhile to make a Mac client. While a significant number of gamers do use Macs, I think most of them are running Bootcamp anyway.

On the other hand, TOR is big enough that a 10% bump in numbers would be more than worth the effort of making a Mac client, something not true of a smaller MMO.

Now whether it should be a priority or not is a whole 'nother question.
