Anyway, the point isn't the performance I was getting. The point is that this game unnecessarily stresses system components and since it's an addicting and time-consuming game, it can lead to damage.
Wow, okay, your system is flawless. You are the man. You hit FPS higher than I do since I am throttled by my display frequency. I could hit high FPS, too, without Vsync throttling me. Doesn't mean dick, though, since my display can't refresh at that rate. I was trying for a little comradery, but it seems like you're just after blood.

Bottom line is, you cooked your gear, which is why you had to knock down your multipliers and vcore. You did this, not the game. Sorry.

i72600k's running just fine for me.

People shouldnt assume sense a few people are having a problem everyone is.

Some areas do however need optimization. (fleets, illum, wz) none of these however causing problems for me.

I am running at 4.4Ghz OC with no issues at all.

This thread isn't about e-peenitis, it's about warning people. I didn't intend on criticizing you but you didn't seem to be making any sense, saying things like running circles around my system.

Look, I hope I'm wrong. I hope the inability for my system to run as well as it did before I purchased Star Wars The Old Republic is nothing more than a coincidence. That's how much I admire the game. It's a shame, really. But I've been on this earth for far too long, have built and maintained and sold and perfected far too many a gaming system, and have learned far too many things about what to do and what not to do to not recognize this situation for what it is: SWTOR looks like a cartoon, yet demands like a vision of the Ark of the Covenant.

It's frankly quite ridiculous and I refuse to have my face melted.

When you over clock your cpu and gpu, you have over heated and taxs the system and stress it out

TO WHOM IT MY CONCERN:

NORMAL CLOCK SPEED FOR YOUR CPU IS

3.4GHZ BY FACTORY SPEC'S

MAX TURBO FREQ

3.8 GHZ

OP said he has sufficient cooling, though from the way you type in caps lock I doubt you managed to read/comprehend this.

Next.

CAUTION: DO NOT LOAD SWTOR UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTER-MARKET COOLING INSTALLED!!

There are way too many posts like this for it to be all on the user end. I myself notice my GPU heat up very quickly even at some of the character creation screens. and some conversations. I never overclock my gear. Run stock standard.

Typically it when certain transparent textures are around. Got to 104 at one point when I was creating a smuggler and I was very fortunate to have nVidia inspector running at the time and caught it. I can replicate this easily just by doing it again.

There is definitely something wrong with SWTOR in this regard. It may not impact everyone, OR, it may be impacting everyone only to an unnoticeable degree.

I've never experienced a game that I want to play so much, but simply can't because of how poorly it has been designed. Actually, I've never played a game that has so many serious engine issues. It's really a mess.

The game does run hotter because it uses up more GPU power. Before the patch that enabled AA, I had to put the modification into the ".ini" file that changed the AA to 16 (google enabling AA swtor). I noticed that my card began to heat up more than average. It was heating up my room here in Canada to a decent temp after at least 30 minutes. After the patch when swtor allowed AA, I noticed that my card ran cooler even on "high AA" settings. So this has led me to assume that this whole issue depends on the games architecture.

So my guess is that your problems are occuring because of the way swtor uses your computers resources. With an overclock and SLI, your probably experiencing HEAT problems. Additionally, I've paid some notice to overclocking Sandy Bridge processers(i have a 2500K) and your overclock is probably off at your previous 4.5GHZ, but nothing so far has taxed it enough to cause these stability issues until now.

After all, an overclock is an overclock.

Consider yourself lucky though. I've heard of cases of people's graphics card being perma damaged just from using official video card drivers that were released straight from the source. Its jsut the nature of things.

This.

SWTOR overheats non-OC'd machines. I literally had to turn on software control for my v-card fan to max on SWTOR just for the card not to break 80 C. All other games that look just as good (or better) than SWTOR on my system don't even break 65, with the fan running at 50%.

This game DOES kill systems.

It's using the computer's resources inefficiently, which seems to be the whole problem. At times the game seems to get stuck waiting for something while it's trying to load up stuff - example being the hitching issues some people get in crowded areas, or at other times you can see this when things like GPU clocks get mysteriously dropped down to 2D clocks even though a ton of action is otherwise going down.

This game heats our systems up because it's using them inefficiently.
