Are there already 3rd party addons for damage meters in SWTOR? Awesome.

I've never been told my characters were not pulling their weight. Oh wait no, once I was because I had forgot to switch out weapons. Once the weapon was switched out, my character was running to spec again.

It's a matter of difference between a person actually KNOWING how to play their characters well and understanding why certain builds do certain things, and a person who doesn't know anything but what they are told through a damage meter, and not knowing why a certain build handles a certain way. Simply can't understand that usually.. though some can.

Personally, I see damage meters as crutches. People have become crippled by their use and simply can't see how to play without them, and that is WHY I personally do not use them... yet every character I have ever played has always scored well when the fight was broken down by a guild leader. maybe not tip top, but well within needs.

But then I am also a different breed of player. I take the time to learn my characters through and through, by experimenting with different builds and equipment.

However if people feel they need a crutch to learn how to build or maximize their characters.. why deprive a cripple of their tools right?

Now.. if you want to actually have a discussion instead of snarky responses.. I suggest you bring your attitude in check and start acting like an adult. Otherwise, all you will get in response back from people, is snarky childish responses in response to your snarky childish responses.

Those must have been some top raiding guilds you were in...

i do, but it was not like everyone were using the tools, the population that uses parser's/addons for dps in rift is still really low

I know it's a tool, and I am actually NOT against people using them. I use all sorts of meters and graphs and spreadsheets in my line of work.. when used right, a good tool does everything to improve and make easier a job or task that would otherwise be tedious in most cases.

I'm really only objecting to a lot of the attitudes (from both sides) I see over this issue. Myself, I don't use them, mainly because I use them way too much at work, and well.. it reminds me too much of work. I still usually rate fairly well against hem but that is more due to my play style than anything else. I take the time to learn my toons.

Sorry if my response was snarky... I wrote it that way more to make a point that people have differing views on things and neither are really wrong, just different.

Naw we were more casual.. and NO it wasn't in WoW, it was in EQ. I've never been all that much into raiding. I'd PUG now and then simply because my guild knew I knew my toon but usually I was off doing other stuff.

It's cool I don't hardly know what I'm even typing since it's 3 am. We will have some kind of parser for people like us who really want to push our characters to the max. I think some people don't understand that fun for some of us who don't have alot of time is that when we do get on we want to get things done and not spend all night wiping on the first boss of a flashpoint. I know some people who actually enjoy the latter too and that's ok people just need to find like minded players. I hope on my server I run into people with your attitude on getting stuff done so I can enjoy the limited play time I'll have especially with a baby coming in 2 weeks I won't have the time to carry bad players through flashpoints.

Maybe... Just maybe... THEY USED A METER!!!
LMAO, i have had the meter tell me I had the wrong gear on quite a few times. Changing specs, crystals and pve/pvp gear I forget all the time. A trash pull or 2 and I fix my gear. I'm not worried about a meter till lvl 50, but its hard to imagine playing without one.

Guilds who are tops in the world in Wow aka paragon use any tool available to them to down bosses. Some people play games for the challenge of being the best at an cost that's not exploiting. That's how some people have fun. I am one of those people I strive to be the best at what I do.

Was that necessary? I dislike WoW as much as the next person, but there's nothing wrong with damage meters, or other addons. They are helpful tools that let you measure and manage things like DPS, threat, and heals.

And they have been critical in the endgame of almost every MMO I've played.

They're also uber-useful for lazy folks like me, who want insta-bag organization and such.:P
