In some ways it's a self correcting system. If you go into a flashpoint and need on one item and greed on 2 others and miss out on the one you needed because someone threw 100k at each of the items... then you walk out of the flashpoint 100k richer (well, probably 99,999 Credits, 33,333 each drop that went for 100k); the next time you run that flashpoint, YOU can be the one throwing 100k at the piece of loot you want.

In general, I'd say that one of the most interesting things it does is eliminates the motivation for people to need on stuff to vendor it, which is one of the common complaints you see thrown around.

wow.. you nearly talked me into using it ... *blinks* i bet you could sell a freezer to an Eskimo who never leaves the north pole, couldn't you?

/shakes your hand...

you have a deal, sir!

IF the rich group with the poor, that is... hehehe!

Yes, I did - so I earned the right to have the same chance as you to win the items I personally decide I need since I helped to make them drop.

If you do not want me to earn that right, don't ask for my help.
I will never need your kind of help as it is no help at all.

  • each person hitting need puts in a credit value that they're willing to pay for it; minimum price = the vendor price on the item.
  • whoever offers the most gets the item, and pays that many credits.
  • everyone else in the group gets that amount split.

This winds up biased toward the person in favor of the person who values it the most, and everyone else still gets something.

I seem to recall that there were raids in wow that used something like this, and as I understand it they were fairly popular. It's not something that particularly appeals to me, just something I'm surprised noone else has mentioned.
Seems to me like that would be a decent way to do end of raid loot distribution. However, I think it might be time consuming to do on as the default looting option.

My kind of help = helps everyone get an equal chance to win what they helped make drop if they decide they need it.

Your kind of help = you get 100% chance to win what you help make drop if you decide you need it and everyone else gets 0% chance to win what they helped make drop if they decide they need it.

My way helps more players in the group then your way does.

I am not going to a help random PuG full of strangers run group content if I am not going to get an equal chance to win the fruits of my labor that I personally decide I need.
I can't barely understand this run-on sentence. More school, less MMO.

Your compaion gear sucks you suck. Its just that simple. Trying playing a healer with a tank companion with gear that not current level for you. BW made companions gear as important your own. Their own words that playing without a companion is not how the game is designed.

So if BW does not want me to roll need on a item for my companion I need to level with then BW better add lots of companion only gear. Till then all PUGs are a need fest so I will need for my companion. When I am with friends or guildies I will ask them if they need before I roll for a companion. This is the way of PUGs and if you dont think so you have not played MMOs. I have tried to play nice in PUGs and all you do is get stepped on.
Pain is a friend, lets you know your still alive. Man am I alive!

Your kind of help means you and your SEVEN companions are rolling against twenty four other characters and companions (assuming a simple FP) should they play by your rules, the loot goes to the best random roll of a computer and the gear lands where ever trusting the decision of the fickle computer and chance gods. Any gear that ends up on a companion is effectively relagated to open world PvE and PvP.

By my rules, the four HUMANS get first dibs on their class items, after that it is a crap shoot. Those four characters will end up better geared and more effective in future group activities.

I don't care about your companions, but I do care if your character has the gear to survive. Higher number of characters with better gear is better for the server and for me and all the PUGs I join.

Actually the computer roll is far more impartial then human players with agendas. The all roll for what your character needs is by far the most equitable choice.

That's correct.

Not everyone joins a PuG for the same reason as you - some join to get better looking gear, some join to get gear with better stats, some join to get better mods for gear they already have, some join to get better looking companion gear or gear for their companions with better stats or get better mods for their companions gear they already have - but the same fact remains for everyone who joins - they ALL help to make those items drop - so they ALL should get EQUAL chance to win whatever items they joined for.

If you do NOT want to help them get the items they want, just say so.

But don't turn around and EXPECT them to then help YOU get the items you want after you tell them you are NOT interested in helping them get the items they want.

If in a PUG, don't roll for your gosh darn companion. If you want to gear your companion, get a couple of friends and steamroll it easymode for companion gear.

As a tank, anyone who rolls for companions over playable characters will not be taunted off and will be allowed to die by my friend healer for being a self entitled douchecanoe
