If you use tools to measure your performance - you already at least semi-hardcore gamer. BioWare's casual is just we dont want you to live in game 24/7.

I'd like to know how much dps I do, so I can improve my gameplay, especially at the endgame.
While I ask this, there would also be nice with some kind of threat meter, if that exists.

This thread is not about damage meters beeing bad or good, useful or if they will destroy the game.

I just simply want someone friendly to point me in the right direction.

I could take a PM if you don't want to give the others the information..

Thank you.

We used to do this in EQ, note or record how much damage you do during fighting over a minute. Then add all them together and divide by how many you added together and there is your average dps.

With This it is not 100% accurate as a addon but it is the best to do atm.

tin foil hatist in me says bioware didnt want damage meters because they do make things easier and they didnt want people blowing through end game content quickly.

WoW might have died an early death if 98 percent of the population wasnt brickwalled on molten core for a few months. the brickwall bought blizzard time to get BWL in which i thought was pretty friggin difficult too and that in turn bought them time to get the first xpac out.

if bioware was smart they would employ a similar strategy because nothing kills an mmo faster than players who feel like they have nothing to do.

What if, only group leaders had damage meters and could link them in chat once every 20 minutes.

This would give the leader of the group the ability to see who is slacking, stop competitiveness in pugs and stop spam.

How can so many people oppose having a dps meter? I played WoW a long time, and there were very few times where there would be a ****** linking dps meters to show off his epeen. The vast majority of times, the dps meter was used to gauge performance in guild runs, and to help improve a player. But what is true is that when groups wipe, they almost always blame the tank or healer. So if a tank or healer can be held accountable to the group for doing a poor job, why can't the dps? And the only way to have actual proof of suckiness is through dps meters.

During my WoW time I've had quite a few instance runs where one of the dps would slack. An instance run that would normally take 20 mins, ends up taking 30+ mins. Then this slacker who is half assing gets to roll on everything too. It's just no fair to everyone else in the group that he wastes our time. But since I don't really have any proof how w/o dps meters, why cause would I have for kicking out the sucky dps?

And finally. If you are really bothered by people linking dps charts to stroke their epeen, you can simply /ignore them. Problem solved.

Stats are part of any game u play... Basketball Football soccer freaking curling lol. Its fun to compete against fellow friends. Now there's pro's and con's to damage meters. peep paying attention to them way to much and thats all they care about or peeps trying to improve there damage, and become a critical asset to there team party or guild. And I hate when people say go back to wow. 50% or more people that's playing this game got tired of wow and everyone knows that. The reason why so many people like this game is because it reminds you of wow when u couldn't get off the computer to take a dump. WOW was fun and at a period of time i thought i would never leave wow, but i did....

It doesn't matter what anyone says end game raiding is a numbers game and meters will be made to assist in this game.

Not that I really care I have raided enough for one life time and will never do it again.
