Pvp gear nerfs are you freaking kidding?!

Problem is if you don't do anything about it the majority of players will not do WZ's. On my main, I made the mistake of not pvping a lot until 50. Was a healer, squished in 2 seconds because as soon as they saw a weakling with that green stuff, I was marked to die. Now, I don't even bother with that toon. Because what I would rather do for my end game is pretty well junk. Sorry, but I don't like getting stomped for months because I have only 1 piece of champ gear. So when you roll into yet another match against the same faction, remember it might be that people who would PVP have simply decided not to. It's not fun to be stunlocked killed in 3 seconds, and spend the whole WZ either fighting a wall or riding a speeder(yeah talk about how boring PVE is, but if you are marked, your PVP matches get pretty boring too). Yeah great you win. But the more that stuff happens, the less players you have to fight against. And you end up just fighting yourselves.
I got nothin

Then join a guild and play pre-mades with vent. It's common knowledge to kill the healer first. If you are pugging then you will die first. If I see a healer then all my concentration is on him. It's your fault for pugging games with no tanks guarding you.

Just read a thread that they will be implementing the following for RATED WARZONES for people like you and I. Hopefully gear would matter here, since some people worked for it:

"
That being said, the current interim 'gearing up' system will change significantly when we introduce Ranked Warzones (aiming for Game Update 1.2). Stay tuned for more details on that.

personally im doing PvP trying to grind my Valor ranks its painstakingly hard to do when you only have a couple hours a night if at all... unlike some poeple who play for 16 - 20 hours a day and have nothing better to do with there time.

45 pages. tl;dr

devs posted this:
Quote:
The cost of Champion and Centurion items are NOT changing.

The chance for a Battlemaster Commendation to be in a Battlemaster Bag is NOT changing. It is still 25%.

To reiterate the mention in my previous post, we will be changing Battlemaster Commendation drops in a future patch toward the same 'steady' progession goal without changing the overall average time to gear up.
Is there an issue. What is the issue?

PvP gear is NOT getting a nerf. They're just making it a bit easier for fresh 50's so they don't get completely destroyed in PvP aka introducing more lvl 50 starter PvP sets.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to introduce a better tiered PvP gear system? Right now, I for one am at a 20 valor vaccuum where the champion bags will mostly yield me nothing, while being weeks of grind away from battlemaster. It saps my will to play (really, it does).

On the other hand the crappy badges you get weren't ever better than even the *******st gear I dinged 50 with. I have tons of them and nothing to spend them on.

Crappy pvpgear (but less crappy than it is today, I hope) -> champion pvp (at say, valor 30 or 40), battlemaster stuff (60), where the valor stuff gets revamped to be less of a horrifying grind.

So you can slowly bridge the gap, without feeling horribly crippled, and without the progress of gearing your pvp character feels stalled or stuck at any point. Cause for me it does, it really is 'stuck'.

And change Ilum in something more interesting while they're at it.

As it seems, there will be NO NERF on existing pvp gear and the gear gap will be reduced by allowing easier access to better PvP gear, for fresh 50's. That's the right decision and was needed. A big gap is not good for the game, is not good for anyone, BW/Mythic know of this from Warhammer, common sense, etc.

Imo it's about a balance between giving players the feeling of progression, by awarding better gear as players are progressing and at the same time keeping:

1. the gear cap small
2. the classes balanced
3. the contribution of different roles (tank, healer, dps) balanced
4. the power of different classes belonging to the same role balanced
5. NO PvE piece being better for PvP than the best PvP piece that exists for that slot, NONE.

Now about Ilum which is supposed to be a mass PvP zone, we either need the daily quest's objectives modified so as to give incentive for spreading out and fighting small scale battles at objectives (which is HARD to do) or you need HEAVY optimizations (which I don't know if they are even possible) in order to make it possible for mass PvP to happen, without having too much lag. Too much lag at the moment is ruining mass PvP, making it non fun and making tactics and skill not matter as much as they should.

These are known problems, but how to fix them requires considerable thinking and info about specific details, which we the players don;t have access to. For example, optimizations can go as far and we don't know how far they can go. If it's hard to further improve on this, then devs should focus on Ilum mechanics and find some system that will give actual incentives for small scale PvP at different objectives and not for one big zerg.

Until these things happen, mass PvP (ilum) will remain lackluster and a boring grind (on most cases) to say the least.

Finally, I hope we get rated WZs soon, even maybe a 4v4 one too and I hope they are well implemented, talking about the system. Still, better test the rating system well, than releasing it early only to discover it's exploitable. We all know that the game is new and that the people answering tickets are not enough, so we can't expect enough investigations to be made concerning exploiting. THUS, the system should be tested well enough.

Finally, I am not fond of the idea to be able to choose what WZ you want to join (when it comes to rated) because people will then just pick one all the time and try to take advantage of VERY specific class setups for that one. That can become a problem easy and it's not good for the game. The "system" should not favor those (always according to my opinion) who run abnormal setups like 2 healers+2 tanks, etc.

Having a balanced group, aka 1 tank, 1 healer, 2 dps should not be a disadvantage.
Peace is a lie.

If you think about it for some classes using the top rated PvE gear might give you some comparability, especially in dps where you are basically using the gear to maximise your dmg output ideally. However, in PvP Battle Master does actually work out better than Rakata. I think allowing players to be somewhat competitive in PvE Rakata isn't a horrendous idea. After all if Bioware made their gear totally suck then on my server there would be a whole slew of players who would never play war zones.
May the farce be with you

NO CRAP ! You didn't spend anytime toward it why would you expect to be able to compete against people who spent a majority of there daily time online even before 50 pvping?!

Time and time again I see people with valor ranks less than 20 WHINING and crying in the warzones about getting beat by people who were better geared.

NEWS FLASH - ....DUH

What about the countless number of people who are geared in pvp and barely have any Columi/Rakata gear!? I only have 2 pieces of PVE Gear - So someone who's pvp'd twice or maybe 3 times with no pvp gear

BUT - A full set of columi gear can hold there own agiasnt a person who's valor 65 and worked extremely hard just to get geared out in battlemaster gear.

Thats ridiculous I agree that people should be on a level playing field in PVP but they should HAVE TO WORK FOR IT JUST LIKE WE DID.

Handing them a free ride doesn't fix the fact that they didn't put in the time and I know this is long winded but GIVE ME A BREAK this is BS
You sir are an idiot. I am maxed valor from 1 to 49. I dont think i could pvp any more. Uou know what when i ding 50 ill have no real pvp gear. You see the gear at lvl 40 does not have expertise. Theirfor you are not better because you you pvp more. You are better because you have expertise gear that i do not have.

Just because you play 10 hours a day while goto work does not mean you spend more of yojr game time then me doing pvp. I could pvp 100% of my play time up to 50 and i would still have 0 pvp gear worth anything at 50. If the 40 gear had expertise at least half of what cent gear did then id at least have something.
