Issue is a complete waste of time that is not part of fun.

Remember the days of waiting for the boat in EQ1? Go to Butcherblock, wait for the boat, take the boat to....another boat, which takes you to Kunark.

Yeah, that didn't last long. This won't either.

Travel in this game is one of the barriers I'm having trouble with. If I'm on Ilum and I want to see if the Belsavis world boss is up, well, you do the math there. It's a pain the in ***, especially on the Imp side since the Alliance side has a base RIGHT NEXT TO THE BOSS.

Immersion my ***....this game's transport system is killing the fun I'm having in it. If I just want to get to another planet or the fleet, I have to go through so much. At least in other games you can take a bird and go get a drink or bio or whatever.

Orbital stations make no sense. Another poster here said that it's because some planets are underdeveloped. BS.

Another problem is if I find myself playing late at night and I just want to get to the fleet with my Quicktravel on cooldown. I just log out where I am and deal with what I wanted to do on the fleet the next day, but I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. It's a GAME, the player shouldn't feel that there are barriers for something as simple as getting to their home base.

EDIT: one last point - the game's areas are designed to be far too expansive with nothing in them. They're large for the sake of making it feel large, but there's a lot of nothing in them. That's what makes transport in this game so dull.

It is a dead horse because there aren't any new or relevant comments being made anymore, it's just the same back and forth bickering essentially saying the same two things: 'I don't mind it' 'I hate it'

Your narrow definition of what the term dead horse applies to is incorrect. It fits perfectly with this discussion.

i think there are two ways to implement travelling.

you either give people the opportunity to travel quickly "by pressing a button" because you donīt find that showing a loading screen while you travel is much of an issue and you want comfort rather than immersion

OR

you restrict fast travel and create a cool, atmospheric, and SEEMLESS experience of actually travelling - which takes more time but gives you the feel of distances in a persistent world.

what we have at the moment is the imperfect mix of both solutions. it takes long and is interrupted by a dozen of loading screens.

The problem with it feeling "immersive" is that sometimes you JUST WANT TO GO HOME.

Ok what we talking about heading out or heading home?

If we're heading home QT to the Fleet Shuttle THAT IS LOCATED ON EVERY $%&!@$ %$##!&* PLANET AND INSTANTLY GET TO FLEET!!! No need to waste your fleet pass or buy a consumable one that is on a longer cooldown than your Quick Travel.

If we're heading from one planet to another you
  • QT to the space port
  • Head to your ship
  • Get on your ship
  • Fly there in 5 seconds
  • Get off your ship
  • SOMETIMES pass through an orbital station
  • Exit space port
Unless you're NOT using QT or taking a super long taxi from space port to the furthest end of a really big planet you're there in like 5 mins. This is faster than in pretty much any other game. Sorry I'll take the manually navigating maze than watching a 10 min cut scene of me flying. Generally you spend more than 30mins on a planet so your QT is on cooldown by the time you leave. If you're planet hopping then no amount of instant transportation that is on a cooldown is going to help you. You're STILL gonna have to run. If you're looking for one that's not on a cooldown it's NOT going to happen.

If you're time is sooooooo valuable why you want something like a 10min afk ride? That's not the best use of your time. Load screen isn't "immersion"? Neither is afking through your travel. Have super long load times? Go afk through that. There's a handy hotkey called autorun. Point your character in a direction and hit it. Ta da you have just reduced your manual input.

This is a minor issue that to be honest can be looked into at a later date. How about we have devs look into ways to REDUCE load times EVERYWHERE, or fix the character combat responsiveness people are complaining about, FPS problems or other technical issues that plague a % of the game population. THEN we can look into the travel issue.

That's the biggest problem with the current system; the boring, pointless, repetitive bits (i.e. run..... loading screen.... run.... loading screen... run) are impossible to miss, you've got to be at the keyboards going through it every time.

Be it the first time or the 1,000,000th time you been that particular route.

The amount of time you'd spend sitting at your PC literally staring at a loading screen soon adds up.

If you're talking years of playing SWTOR your then talking about days of people doing nothing but staring at loading screen. Who wants to spend their time doing that?
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

That "some planets are underdeveloped. BS" guy is me. And I said it because of a quest that is IN THE GAME.

However your post is full of BS.
  • I want faster travel so I can check on a world boss. You know you can whisper someone on the planet to "check".
  • I want faster travel because I want to go to fleet and my QT and Fleet Pass was on cooldown. Well guess what buddy get a security pass. If Quick Travel, Fleet Pass skill & consumable Fleet Pass from key vendor still isn't enough NOTHING but a no cooldown teleport will please you. In that case see ya.
You can still take the "bird" or taxi in this case to fly to the Fleet Shuttle and afk in flight. So what are you complaining about? You can do the stuff you claimed other games can do already, you got a shorter travel time than in any game, you got a Fleet Pass skill, Fleet Shuttle near a taxi, you got a key vendor selling extra fleet passes but it's not enough.

It is people like you that they talk about trying to dumb down a game.
