If the only defense for leaving the extra steps in is:

Deal with it!

Get a quicker computer!

It was worse in X game!

You are not providing anything compelling to keep these extra steps in.

I don't get why some people get so defensive when others suggest changes to better "their" game play.

This is not a request for a change that would benefit some, but hurt others like nerfing something, or adding in tediousness.

It is about smoothing out the game play and getting rid of additional unnecessary steps with no logical reason behind them.

For those so defensive over the suggestions to change travel...why? Provide a valid reason why? I am curious what the mental block is, or what some of us maybe missing.

Do other things need fixing more than this? Sure.

Does that mean this cannot be put on the list of things to review and modify? Definitely not.
It's more of a immersion thing vs push button and instantly your on your ship or another planet... If your time is so valuable then you probably shouldn't be playing video games to begin with since gaming in general is just a time waster...

Reminds me a bit of the argument back with Wing Commander, the original Wing Commander you had to land your own ship and you could see all the damage you took, was really cool and immerse but some people were impatient and wanted automatic landings and instantly appearing on the cruiser by passing all the damage detail and landing... Felt like they took a part of the soul out of Wing Commander when they did that..
F2P is like driving on a long stretch of highway with toll booths every 1/2 mile

i am with you on that one and i would not give people the opportunity to fasttravel more.

but i cannot see the immersion behind a loading screen either.

that is actually the reason why i tend to use the fast travel to fleet MORE often because it is my only option to reduce the loading screens i have to go through.

if there were less of them i would rather use my ship. even if it means to do a bit of walking, be it silly or not.

WoW people are getting lazy... Dont think a lot of people will be happy unless Bioware gives them teleport ability that sends them to any spot on any planet instantly..
It's not immersive.

The whole airlock/spacestation travel has me dreading when I have to go to another planet for something. Its not an issue when you're there for several levels. Its an issue when you get class quests that have you bouncing all over the galaxy for a couple minute cut scene and they 15 minutes of running to get back to your ship. I just wish there was a quick travel station in the landing bay/airlock hall of each planet. That way I could at least skip it once in awhile.

I disagree- traveling between planets is not pointless. It is part of the journey.

BW can easily remove the airlock section to make planetary travel quicker. Too many steps and BW devs should realize that if players move back and forth it gets old REALLY QUICK!!!

BW offer level 50s a direct path to land on planets to by pass the whole space station entirely but still leave it an option. This can be done with a pop up when a level 50 chooses a planet to go to. Pop up will say, "Land spaceship on planet? Yes or No?". If you select no then off to the space station you go.

Does it break your "immersion" when you use the fleet pass? If so, why do you use it?

If not, then why oppose a change to make travel a bit more like using the fleet pass?

If people think fast travel to your ship breaks immersion, they're welcome not to use it. Nobody is stopping you from walking everywhere.

Early SWG...10 minute shuttle waits to get to the next planet...missed the shuttle? You're SOL.
