Nothing in the definition of a MMO has to equate to a time sink, or needless time sinks.

If you have noticed, the trend is to move away from ridiculous time sinks and let people "Play" and "Enjoy" their free time they use to play a "Game".

I went from Quesh back to Taris last night:

Fast travel to town.

Run to Shuttle.

Zone to Orbital Station. (step not needed)

Run to ship air lock. (step not needed)

Zone into ship. (step not needed but I can deal with this)

Run to map. (step not needed but I can deal with this)

Pick Taris on map. (step not needed but I can deal with this)

Zone out of ship. (step not needed but I can deal with this)

Run across orbital station to shuttle. (step not needed)

Zone down to planet.

Run out of space station to finally be able to quick travel (nope not ready yet) to run to shuttle to get to where I am questing. (step not needed but I can deal with this)

Should be:

Quick travel to ship. (or run to space port if quick travel not ready)

Hit map or drop down menu at hanger door and choose destination planet.

Land in space port of destination planet.

Have quick travel ability able to be used and get to where going.

Travel is necessary, the extra steps are not.

This was too funny. Talk about over reacting. WAIT Don't report me bro because I called you an over reactor.

Seriously everyone need to take a chill pill. Look at you all getting all worked up over an issue like this. Some want it to stay some want it gone but know what ANY change takes time. We got people with complaints about character responsiveness, PvP balancing issues even broken class quests and you want to get THIS worked up over something that is functioning regardless of the slight annoyance you feel.

They send you back and forth to your ship after you clear out a planet. You shouldn't be heading back and forth to your ship ALL the time. Even when it comes to your Ilum dailies. You go, do the dailies, and either you stay or you take the fleet shuttle back to fleet. I only see you going to your ship ONCE.

Some suggestions were made, some good, some ridiculous, people stated their views now let's move onto something more important. BioWare saw the back and forth and you can always send an e-mail to support@swtor.com so they have one on record there.

Let's say I want to fly from Memphis to Paris, and no direct flights are available. I first have to drive through stalled traffic just to get to the airport, then I have to wander around to find the right counter, be searched, wander through a long terminal to find the right load point...wait, and wait some more, get on plane, wait some more...fly to New York, deplane, wander through more terminals, repeat and rinse as so many of you console gamers love to say, and someday make it to my destination where I have to do more of the same. And to think I have to pay over $3000 and still have to go through those loads points.

The travel system is fine...especially if you need some supplies in between. People really need to comment on things that really matter like the lack of RP on RP servers, no ice cream when beating an elite boss three levels above your own, and no digital watches. [How did they tell time a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away?]

So you are saying for the sake of realism we should recreate all the really boring and time-consuming activities with this virtual world which is supposed to provide a pleasant sparetime experience? I rather stick to reallife in that case, thanks much. At least the graphics are far superior.

This thread again is populated by many people who are in no way prepared to accept that there are different opinions which are just as valid as their own, and different ways to enjoy a game. Makes discussion quite pointless sadly.

Question is: Do the orbital space docks have ANY RELEVANT function that is either 1) necessary or 2) fun.

Bot can be answered with a clear "no", so why are they in there?

IŽd be more than happy to have a shuttle -> your space ship routine than shuttle -> space dock -> air lock -> ship routine. Both are literally the same, but one is longer for no apparent reason. :?

too me that is fast travel.
Back in the early days of SWG, you had to wait 10 minutes for a shuttle or star ship between locations or planets... 10 MINUTES!!!

The whiners here would lose their flipping minds in that situation.

lol, same with ships in FFXI, Mhuara to Selbina route 10 minutes, Whitegate to Nashmau 10 minutes, although you did get to fish off the boat. Airships were like 5 iirc.

NOTE: That's 10mins ONE WAY!

Imagine the feeling when you run into the docks and see the boat pulling away.
