I completely agree with you. This is the main thing behind my suggestion in the post http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=193367

And that's why GW2 will be a better game.

Subscription models force developers to make pointless timesinks so players have to spend more time doing stupid things.

Thank god GW2 is coming out relatively soon... it can't be soon enough.

Quick travel fix

make it 15 min ,
add all planets names in a scroll. so you can see all planet maps , in your map.
make its so you can then travel to any location you have found, on any planet

example jumping from fleet directly to the last quest hub you where at. when you start playing again.

helps whit doing heroics, if you want to help a guild member , just jump to the nerest quest hub closet to the heroic , do the heroic and then jump back to the one you where at.

jump to the quest hub that has a fleet shuttle , and off to FP, do that now anyway. they sould be marked though whit somthing else.

just a UI addon. probable long load times but better then running in a station.

becomes available when you get a space ship,
but ones you have all the planets, galax map only there for space missions,
so probable a no go , even if it would fix alot of waisted time.

ultimate time sink fix whit little effort.

You should have to fly to the planet first is my only issue once thats done this would be a good idea

People nowadays have no patience. They always want to portal here, zzap right there instantly.

How they manage in real life having to walk or go by car on a journey is beyond me.

Are we there yet, Are we there yet, Are we Ther..............

@OP: It's called a time-sink. Game developers use them to stretch their games because they slow down progress without requiring any effort what so ever on the part of the developers. You just take the same ****** space station and copy/paste it endlessly.

It's the only reason I can think of.

You're a funny one. What does instant gratification have to do with anything? It's not about achieving anything - it's about regular travelling.

What's the point of forcing me to endure the same space stations, orbital stations and star ports except to slow me down? It's neither difficult to travel nor interesting nor is there any other game-technical reason for it. It's simply to slow down the levelling process and thereby maximize subscription fees.

The best example of PURE time-sinks are at the end of each chapter... you know... travel to your capital, talk for 20 seconds, travel to fleet, click an NPC (there isn't even any conversation for crying out loud), travel back to your capital, talk again for 30 seconds... it's simply retarded. It makes no sense - neither from a role-play point of view (that's what gosh darn holo-communicators are for) nor from a RL point of view.

The only explanation is to either stretch game content or BW is actually that terrible that they think people enjoy this crap.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, another might be that they have plans to expand the roles of the station at a later date.

I don't mind travelling someplace with my group. I just don't want to have to travel to get to my group!

This isn't real life. This is a video game - and I want my time playing that video game to be enjoyable and efficient, that's why I'm playing games. To have fun. If I have one hour to play and half of it consists of travelling then I'm not having fun - mainly because I'm wasting my precious free time.
