So Why is Threat Invisible?

Why do we have an invisible game mechanic? It's like not being able to see health or resource bars. What possible reason could there be for this?

Some bad answers I want to head off at the pass: "I can kinda sense where my threat is based on how hard I'm hitting things." Unless you're an robot, no you can't. You just can't. And even the robot would need to know all the threat values anyway, and we just don't have this information. You might have a vague notion of your threat, but this is the whole problem I'm on about. Why not just show us like heath or resources?

"See?! This is why they need to give us mods!" No, they just need to show us the values in game like every other value; health, resources, resolve, cooldowns... again, why is this one value singled out for invisibility?

I am the tank.

Is the enemy attacking me? Y/N

If Y, check next enemy.

If N, attack enemy until he attacks me.

How is this so hard to understand?

As said, it is clearly visible without the need for numbers.

Less numbers make it more like playing a game and less like playing a spreadsheet.

This is an absurd oversimplification* that doesn't answer my actual question.

* - How many mobs are attacking you, or is it a boss? Which trash mob is gonna bolt first, and hence, be the one you want to start building threat on in advance? The boss just stunned everyone. Was that a threat dump? Do the DPS need to cool it for a sec while I build more threat? You must be a very, very bad tank.

How is your threat visible?

Saying "the mob is either attacking me or it's not" is a comment on aggro, not threat.

Threat is invisible.

That works great until you start getting yelled at for losing threat on an enemy and it two-shots the healer. (If they can hit that hard; I don't have a 50 yet.)

I would also like to be able to see if I'm losing threat before a mob runs off and punches someone else in the face.

No. I just don't see the need for five digits of knowledge when all I really need to know is "Are they attacking me?". And more specifically, "Are they doing too much damage spread out over too many people?"

They don't hit that hard. Or more specifically, the healers aren't that weak. Hell, some healers have the same amount of armor I have, more or less, and roughly the same amount of health!

Or, unlike you, he is a really good tank who can do his job without needed to be told by a program how to do it. By constantly making sure everyone is on him, he knows that he has threat.

I am a tank, and I am good at it. The numbers are pointless. If you see something attacking your sniper, well drop a taunt and keep on tanking. Seriously, it is all about paying attention, not watching a stupid little numerical representation.

That's only "all you need to know" if you're satisfied with loosing aggro.

It also doesn't answer the question as to why it's invisible to begin with. Based on your reasoning, we should just remove health bars. Hey, I'm either alive or I'm dead, right? What do I need all these numbers for?
