Please don't do this. You will only create the mentality that you need to be in a certain elite class to have any sort of input. This is the same stupid method used by Mythic in DAOC where team leads were selected to summarize and portray class issues. All it did was make people swamp the team leads or have the team leads fudge made up statistics to get their own class buffed (I still hate you Ella).

You should have done this in private.

Someone needs to teach David Bass about Google Hangouts... Good enough for the President of the United States, but not good enough for Bioware?

How about hosting a live Q&A on youtube or something so more people can be involved and money doesn't need to be wasted to attend in this event?

/begin tinfoil hat

OMG they aren't going to implement every suggestion that every Tom, Dick & Harry has! How dare they not implement what everyone wants. I mean I'd really like a pony as a mount, the pony to have upgraded textures, and for it to take me to a secret land where I can find 20 more pieces of endgame content I'll rush through in a week.

/end tinfoil hat

Who says they aren't listening to the other feedback they have received? They have said numerous times they are looking into issues, and as soon as they make a specific post saying they are working on that issue, it becomes a 'OMG, I HAVE TO WAIT TWO WEEKS? WELL ME AND MY TOP RAIDING GUILD WHICH HAD 923808304804823043843034 DKP IN WOW WILL ALL LEAVE THIS GAME IN A HUFF. BUT OH, WE'LL STOP POST HERE AND WHINE AND WHINE BECAUSE WE DONT KNOW HOW TO GIVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

I swear, nothing is good enough for you constant tin-foil hat whiners and naysayers.

Do the rest of a community a favor and just unsub, uninstall the game and quit flooding the forums with the same whining over x, y, z issue when there's already a thread about it.

This entire 'event' is cool for those who are interested in that sort of gathering, but when push comes to shove, this seems like pointless PR ********.

Do we really need guild leaders/officers to convey the problems, questions, and concerns for the entire SWTOR pop? I hardly think so, especially when some people are overly biased.

I know BioWare cares about the game and its community to an extent, but holding a conference about what needs to be fixed when you have things like tickets flooding in, forums being stacked with problems and suggestions, beta feedback, etc,; This entire gathering seems like a pointless money sink.

I love SWTOR and I love BioWare (I hate EA), but I feel like they could be using that time on something far more beneficial.

This is just one mans opinion, try not to bash.

So I applied to attend, but I had a question. I noticed the * for people that filled out the application responsible for their own lodging, food and airfare. Are the guild that were invited by BioWare that did not have to fill out the application paid for by BioWare?

Also, while I have much respect for fan sites like DH, CCR and MERC. I sincerely hope you are not inviting them as well since they were able to attend the Fan Site Summit back in November. If opinions and new ideas are really your objective then guilds other than ones hosted by fan sites would offer new perspectives for BioWare. Otherwise it makes the Guild Summit look like just another Fan Site Summit for marketing purposes instead of what the advertised intent is.

Just my two cents.

Le sigh.

If BW make a public convention, people moan because the attendants ask the same old questions that have already been answered, and they probably have 0 interest in joining the game anyway, they just want to play the demo.

If BW make a more personal convention, aimed at people who do play the game, ranging from hardcore fans to social guilds, people moan because they don't want to join a guild or can't be bothered to make an effort to find a 'social home'. There are even some moaning because they're not a guild leader or an officer (as it would obviously be up to the leader who attends the event as their representative). Here's an idea: make your own guild.

Rejecting guild invites because you think it may be filled with immature players with conflicting interests is retarded. You are not bound to that guild, you can make use of a clever little command known as /gquit. If you don't want a guild, fine. If you only play with friends and family, why not make a guild and invite them, so you can all talk... is that not the whole point of a guild?

There are even some people who dare question their budget to pay for such an event. Do you not consider that, spending a little in a personal Q&A session may result in getting direct feed back and suggestions to new content that may, specifically, be released only to this convention first, before they make an announcement, leading to potential longer subscription durations or even new players?

I have no interest in attending this event, but reading some of these replies makes me feel ill.

I'm not going to pay for airfare, food and lodging just to sit in meetings all day and help improve a service I'm already paying for. No thanks.

I suspect the vast majority of guilds will be from the local area due to the money issue alone.
This why I think the lack of video conferencing makes this summit a bad idea.

You are essentially asking people who play this game for fun (even if in a leadership role) to pay 1000’s of dollars for airfare, lodging, food, and time away from work/school. Why would anyone want to spend 1000’s of dollars to help a company improve a service they are paying a monthly fee for? If my cell phone provider told me I could attend a summit to give my thoughts on how they could improve their service I would say heck no…go figure it out yourself or I’ll take my money elsewhere. I really like the idea that Bioware wants to reach out to the community but they have to eliminate the cost factor by offering video conferencing.

I just applied and we are focused on all apsects of the game. Plus I live in Phoenix, AZ and can easily drive to Austin and pay for my own room and board. I think this is a great idea.
