When you take your character back to the PvE environment, you return to the skills and gear you had there, but the game will save your last PvP setup. You'll also be able to store templates for builds. This way, you can try out new stuff in PvP but still easily return to your familiar builds."

SW:TOR approach is: Let 50s farm 10s for a month, give them their own bracket now since they have farmed their BM gear and now let them farm fresh 50s getting geared. World pvp, lets let the higher population camp the lower population until they have farmed their BM gear in one day.
GW2's approach actually is more like, 'in a few months, it'll be clear which server is winning the weekly world pvp events, everyone reroll there!'.

I mean, no, GW2 is the messiah and the second coming of owPvP and the best game ever- which is why there's less info on it now that there was on TOR four years before its launch.

TOR world pvp is a joke right now, GW2 will be next year's joke... or maybe two years from now's joke....

Oh wait, GW2 is box sales based, they need to get that out and make sure people buy it fast before they realize it's just 'disappointment mmo #3320'.

That was the list
There are none.
Let me know when your so called "e-sports" get a TV contract, make it to the Olympics or X-Games Princess. Just cause a few people want to call them "sports", won't make it so. I know, can we make Microsoft Hearts an "e-sport"? There's zero difference between that and your "e-sport" games.
The gamer in me hates that my boss, Bob I., sold EA the rights to make Star Wars games. The investor in me can retire early though due to Bob's decisions.

Same stat pvp seems carebear to me, but that's coming from an MMO pvper.

If you want that, play Guild Wars. or wait for GW2...or better yet, play one of the thousands of free games that are skill based and not gear based.

MMO pvp always has been and always will be impacted by gear. get over it. anyone who says otherwise is the carebear. it's part of mmo pvp. qq.

PvP'ers (unless you live with Mom) have been looking for this for years. SWTOR is not it.
Its a gear based game. Its an mmo, if you didnt understand that better gear = more powerful char then I don't know exactly what you expected. This is pretty much the whole point of the game, pve and pvp - you aquire gear, improve and fight more challenging players and content. If you don't have the required gear, expect to have a hard time.
What do you expect from an mmo with a gear progression model? I mean really...

Your arguement for that may be:
But one is a RTS and the other a MOBA, they are not MMORPGs.

My response:
GW2 approach is very similar in skill over gear in pvp, which is a MMORPG.
GW2 isn't out- also, most of the SC fans are in a part of the world where grindfest mmos like Perfect World have millions upon millions of subs.

Also, it's easier to get 'subs' for a game that has no fee. Put a monthly fee on SC, LoL and GW2 and watch that sub base plummet.

yes and no; if the sub came with all the champs for LoL, people might pay it. The average dedicated LoL player (puts in as much time playing LoL as you and i do playing an MMO) spends more like 30-40 bucks a month on that game.

However, the point youre trying to make is still mostly valid.
entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem
Also, 'cause im tired of talking about it:

A sad but true fact...

Sorry a game is the only sense of accomplishment and identity some of you have.
No, bad pvpers will always need an excuse for being lazy. People are not bad if they play the game the way it is intended, they are bad if they whine on forums because they cannot handle losing, to better geared people.

The longer you sit and whine about "expertise", "gear gaps", "mmo progression" - the further your opponents pull ahead of you in gear terms.

Get on the saddle or off it, but please for the love of god stop blaming other people because you are late to the party, or too lazy to farm gear (which is easy to get).

Good pvpers just play the system as it is.

Bad pvpers are just self-entitled, and expect everyone to build the game around them and their progress. Its not gonna happen. Deal with it.

How is it carebear? The term isn't even applicable in this situation. It takes the gear crutch away and forces tactics and skill to come to the forefront.

Valor 40 Vengeance Juggernaut
Full Champ geared (except boots... 60+ bags... Still rockin Centurion boots LOL)

^That having been said, I feel all gear should be normalized in WZs.
Or rather, all stats should be normalized. Same thing.

I play PVP for fun and competition. Not for gear.
Furthermore, I don't even like the look of the level 50 PVP gear. I use it because I have to in order to be competitive.
While I've heard that soon we'll be able to fully swap mods out of purple gear (solving the appearance issue) that still doesn't address the simple fact that PVP should not be based on gear... In any game.

FPS, RTS, MMO... Whatever. Playing against another player is supposed to be a 100% even playing field or it's not balanced. If it's not balanced, it's not fair. If it's not fair, it's not fun.

Gear is for PVE.
