You guys are on a serious bandwagon today, but you are completely wrong.

If all PVP gear cost a non-trivial amount of warzone/merc commendations with a 100% chance to buy the item and equip it we would not be seeing these posts. You are indirectly complaining about a horrible gear system, that much is valid.

SWTOR has PVE too. I know, from these forums you wouldn't know it but it does. In 6 months to a year when several content patches have landed you will be glad PVP gear exists.

Any game with PVE and PVP where there is PVE gear progression has to have PVP gear. If it doesn't you are stuck with two outcomes with a 100% chance to happen.

1. You must raid to gear for PVP

2. Players with better gear still win, PVE items are typically more powerful than PVP items.

If you want a fair game then SWTOR is not the game for you, plain and simple.

Your post is to long.

But I can tell you two things that make your argument invalid:

1) this is an MMO not an FPS so gear gettin better is a huge part of it.

2) everyone would have to fight with dedicated pvp gear and not te gear they earned meaning their character never progresses, see 1, and there is no way to customize stats for a spec. And if there was no pvp gear pve gear would take lead in pvp.

There are so many reasons your argument can never work in a MMO.

From your comment you mean "good players" need to have an advantage or else they can't win? Sounds more like the "good players" are the ones who are the "terribles".

Wrong. Competitive sports use salary caps to force teams to compete on the same budget. Baseball and soccer are the least competitve sports precisely because the NY Yankees and Real Madrid can buy whomever the see fit.

People such as yourself make me laugh. No matter what was removed you would complain. You lose and therefore it HAS to be something in games fault. Expertise, gear, lag, other players, animations, warzone maps and the list will be endless. It simply does not matter what is removed you will find something to claim it isn't equal pvp unless you win every fight.

As i stated, several games DO have balanced pvp, SW simply isnt one of them, and if you actually feel that way.. i kinda feel sorry for you.

I love how "good players' are the first to defend their advantages, due to fear of what would happen if they were taken away.

Completely agree with the very well written post of the OP.

The incentive is fun.

Sports comparisons don't work. E-Sports comparisons are fair though, but what MMO has ever been an E-sport? WoW. In tournaments everyone has equal access to vendors to buy whatever they want and the most powerful items are usually removed.

This is an MMO on retail servers with trivial PVP that doesn't mean anything yet in a game that is 5 weeks old. When rated Warzones come out there will probably be a change to make getting the pvp gear easier.
