Another 'hater' post couched in a misleading post title. And yet another subversive post cluttering up GENERAL FORUM.

Post SUGGESTIONS on the SUGGESTIONS forum!

Just stop, already!

I agree with the original poster. It would have been nice if your first three companions you got were from the first three planets you did. All classes should have gotten a healer, then a tank, and finally a DPS, then the last two slots could be filled on any planet.

Being a BH and starting out with a healer is a little unfair to the other classes that have to wait till their 20s and mid 30s.

It seems like they had to cut corners since some characters are more fleshed out than others and thats sad. I can totally see them doing micro transactions for additional companions in the future, they've done it with Dragon Age and Mass Effect. At least with these new $10 companions they should have alot more interesting content with them.
The Universe is hostile, so impersonal.
Devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been...

Wasn't that before they gave us different companions though.

Amen, the current system is weak.

Bioware loves to tout all the choice in their games, and then for no reason at all, hinder those choices.

There are so many inappropriate companions for any given class that it boggles the mind as what they were thinking. Ashara Zavros for the Sith Inquisitor comes to mind. Why couldn't his by my Knight's padawan? Instead I get "generic sassy human female hero #546756". No, she hangs around with a character the least likely to act the way she wants.

The way it is now, you have too many companions who hate you, try being a dark side jedi, how many companions can you build relationships with without dumping all your money and time on gifts? One?

Nobody's forcing you to do ANYTHING.

Seriously, this type of complaint is so silly.

well OP lets look at this:

Inquis get a tank as ther first pet considering how they are mostly healers, range dps or melee dps this works well.

BH who can take a hit get a healer/range dps companion

Warriors who can also take a hit well get a pure range dps companion

IA get a range tank which works wel with their mostly dps spec

Consulars get a melee tank which works well their dps or healing builds

Troopers who are tanks or melee dps get a range dpser

Jedi get a ranged tank

smugglers get a ranged tank

It seems like the classes get a first companion that works well with most of their early builds. All classes get a full healer companion once their get thier ship. Yes the much maligned ships droid. He really is a nice pure healer. As you progress and gain more companions you gain greater flexibility in the roles you companions can fill just as you yourself gain great power. If you want to be a healer merc BH that is fine mako works well with that for the early lvls as she can dps and help heal you if you are takign to much damage. Once you get your second main companion a range dpser you can reverse the rolls and you heal him while adding spot dps. Your third companion is melee dps and can work well as a tank if you are their to heal him. As you can see the system works well. Is the first companion always the prefect companion for all the builds no. They work better with some builds than others but they are servicible for all your classes builds and the fights you are likely to run into early in your life.

I agree that there should be more choice in companions. If they allowed Consulars to pick up Kira Carsen, or Inquisitors to pick up Vette, it would be a massive annoyance removal. I really don't want to spend my first twenty levels dragging along ugly Qyzen Fess or Khem Val. I really don't. That basically makes Consulars and Inquisitors completely unplayable to me. If they would just allow cross-class companions I'd suddenly have double the amount of playable classes.
