Thinking about rolling a healer.

So I have never played a healer. Can someone give me the positives and negatives to doing so? I would assume you get targeted a lot but get invited into almost ever group is you are even just an average player. I guess what I am asking is it fun in pvp or is it more of a pve class. I would assume getting targeted all the time in pvp would get old. But I guess all classes get targeted to a degree. Thoughts?
