you can get capped no matter how you level if you sitting at dark IV at Dark:8500 and Light:100 when you hit 9900 in the dark the next points you get will take away your light points an give you dark allowing you to be dark V the only problem is if you do anything that gives you light points you can't use your dark V gear until you go do something dark to get those points converted back into dark from light.

PLEASE do your research in things like this before you go complaining.

Wow i was not aware of this, if this is true then yes the system needs to be looked at.

i think maybe instead of two separate values (Light and dark points accumulated) you have just one value (alignment integer -/+ value) that then goes up or down based on your actions.

Though while i see that a handful of people see that there is no cap? has anyone successfully gone from Light V to Dark V and vice versa?

This poster is completely correct.

Once you cap one, say light IV at 10K with say 1000 dark, to net to a 9000 light, all subsequent light actions reduce your dark points, so once you do another 1000 light, you will be 10,000 light and rank V.

I know, because I'm a diplomat and I've watched it.

The _real_ problem is that there is very little buffer, so if you do one dark thing or mission, you can lose light V until you do another light one. There needs to be a bigger buffer, like letting light and dark go to 11,000.

Neutral alignment is coming...

Yes I see your point and understand. There's certain situations where the dark choice seemed like the more humane. Such as breaking up those Jedi lovers seemed kind of evil- yet it was the light choice.

If you are really hung up on the issue - just take up Diplomacy... It takes no time at all to gain all the dark/light points you want.

Those of you ignorantly complaining about not being able to change once you hit the dark or light cap are forgetting one important thing. I'm Dark V and I don't want to be light at all. If I do an instance with a player and they roll light and win, there goes my Dark V.... That's why if you hit cap it stays, which is a GOOD thing.

Kinda ironic that you are bashing others for being ignorant when your post isn't even accurate.

First, if you hit the cap at 10k it does NOT stay with the points you have, it will continue to fluctuate (but never exceed 10k points, rather subtracting from the opposite side to add to the moral alignment you chose) as you make choices in the game.

And if you are in a flashpoint with a friend, you roll dark, they roll light and they win, you do NOT lose your Dark V because their light side choice doesn't affect your alignment. You will continue to remain at Dark V.

I'm curious as to what'll happen with my gray jedi - will I get 5k on either side of the fence before I start losing, or will they both hit 10k before I start shifting the slider then? I think I'm at about 4k on both sides.
The average person thinks he isn't.

Funny as hell how sad and pathetic you are... you need to post your text in yellow so that people will read your post. I couldn't stop laughing. Not only that but you are incorrect. I have a darkside character and did an instance with my gf who who rolled light. She won the roll and my char got light points. Try again sir.

Btw, feel free to do what normal non full of themselves people to and use the normal color in your text.

While I understand how the current system works, I think it would help everyone if the cap was say 11000 instead of 10000 so you have a cushion on your Light or Dark V.

Another option would be to cap the difference at 10,000 and allow light and dark points to keep accumulating past 10,000 (i.e. remove the dark option removes light points if dark is at cap). This option has a downside in that eventually you might exceed the size of the storage allocated (i.e. a 16-bit signed integer is +/- 32767).
