Out of curiosity, have you played every class in recent games to max level to see if there was one that was challenging for you? Because if you haven't, I'm going to completely disregard everything you've said. There could have been challenging classes/rolls you never tried.

Additionally, have you played anything other than the Sentinel in SWTOR?! There ARE quite a few specs that are just as easy if not easier to master than classes from other games, let's say WoW (since everyone likes to default to that one).

To base your overall opinion of a game on one tiny part of it is ignorant.

EDIT: Also, I really am not trying to be a jerk but I can think of no other way to phrase my coming point, have you ever considered maybe you weren't good at a particular class/roll in other games?

Bringing 40 people to a PVP lake then zerging the other one. Or any form of Battleground with 8+ people isn't capable of bringing to level of competition and skills involved in small team battle.

Because when you have more than 3-5 people, someone can makes up from your mistakes. While in 3v3 if you make 1 mistake, it's probly over.

And don't talk too fast about wow. Blizzard know how to make real competitive game. Just look at sc1-2. If you never played those game to the full extent of them in term competition you really don't know what you are talking about.
I played WoW at launch and stopped shortly after Cata. and PvE leveling to lvl 85 in that game was the easiest in any MMO that ive played and Ive played tons..I never talked "too fast" or bad about WoW at all. So yes I do know what I'm talking about..Blizzard designed it to be that way.

The old MMO fell just applied to the one class I'm playing "Sentinel." I didn't explain that part correctly lol.

Apart from the UI I don't get the old MMO feel from this game at all.

Old MMOs, specifically the ones that were mentioned, were very social experiences. You needed groups to level. Leveling in this game is mostly done solo like any recent MMO but then you've got all the personal instances, class quests, and a stable of NPCs to play with you and tell you how amazing you are.

The worlds in old games tended to have a sense of scale to them as well. EQOA for example was absolutely massive, open, and remarkably I can remember a lot of it to this day. TOR is a game made up of themepark planets that are linear and don't have that many landmarks. One part of Voss feels like another part of Voss. Something I found pretty cool about Aion was that even though it was quite linear as well the different areas in a zone could be dramatically different.

Oh, and the hub of this game. How can people say that WoW is a lobby game but this isn't? Most 50s I know rarely leave the perfectly circular fleet. Maybe to Belsavis and Illum but I've stopped doing even that as have others I know. Old games had interesting capital cities. Maybe they weren't a big circle of convenience but Halas, Bastok, Windurst, Freeport, etc. had way more personality to them.

But this thread was about challenge wasn't it? Being something different and more challenging than WoW, right? Now that is about the most absurd thing I've read on these forums.

No this thread wasnt about that at all...many people are saying in the forums that this game is HARD to level..I say COMPARED to old skool mmos is isnt so when those players are being told its not hard its a l2p issue that actually has some truth in it..

And as far as the Old Skool MMO comaprison I botched that up cause I didn't really explain why I meant that.. (Sentinel was a challenge to me at first)

Speaking of EQ. I just read it is going free to play this spring. I have played it recently and it really brought back memories. I would argue EQ is the greatest mmo of all time but thats just my opinion. Lotsa botting going on these days in eq but I miss grouping up with friends and just camping an area trying to spawn the rare mobs for the rare loots! good times!
