Venture back in time will me MMO friends as I remin. on 3 games of old...See there is a reason why many are saying this game just takes skill to play ...

Think back everyone to the times of Eq1,Eq2&ff11.... Back to when in Eq1 you had to watch out for corpse stealers...Back whem dying happened all of the time..back in Eq2 when heroic mobs were everywhere and having a 2 million xp defecit and having 4 ghost shards scattered about to where u couldnt even kill a lvl 1 was common..

Whem eq2 first introduced pvp..and everyone went to the freeport side and thus the qeynos purge was started..anyone who dared brave stepping out of the qeynos gates was instantly butchered..and If by some lucky chance u made it to the gryphon oh my whem u reached the steppes station u met legions of freeporters..

And ff11 now that was good times...having to grouo from lvl 10-75... and facing two of the most feared and hated mobs in mmo history..goblin smithys and leechers...u habe the leecher down to min health.ur healer is out of mana and u "shout we got him!" only for him to pop off a cure and one by one he drops u..

Or in the kaz jungle when u hear someone shout "gob train inc!" You run around the been to hide withbur group and return only to see whole groups.dead..bodies scattered everywhere...whats this someone is still alive running for his life..But u know the outcome..the smithys beat down the poor lad and u hear that sound brings chills to,the hardiest warrior..the delevel sound.

So To the players who began their MMO exp with easy WoW understand that when we say Swtor isnt unplayable just has a learning curve so L2P its not to be rude...its.just cause we r already used to these types of games!

Back to the time when Casuals cried non stop about how they can't get the coolest looking gear because they don't have time to do anything? Of extensive time sinks that provide nothing? Of countless hours spent staring at a computer screen to get purple pixles that are arbitrarily replaced every content tier?

Nostalgia of the old generally hinds the future.

Well, it does require you to use more than 1 button to level.
...they'd never come to see me in this dive, where bikers stare at cowboys, who are laughing at the hippies, who are praying they'll get out of here alive...

God I remember that. Back before Level synch and Fields of Valor made FF11 easy mode. let me remind you of the 18 hour boss fights and the year or so it took to fully level up your relic weapon.

Gear in EQ1 usually lasted longer than one or two levels. Back when fine steel armor with no stats was some of the best armor in the game. Or, your class quest armor that you completed by level 25ish (once they put it in)*could* last you until you could get the Kunark class armor. EQ was less a gear grind and more a social game. Hanging out in some areas just talking in between pulls and having fun. That atmosphere has been gone for a long time, sadly.

??????

??????

*lost look*

??????

Im sorry what does dieing all the time and courpse runs have to do with TOR?

*even greater confused look*

I think I have died maybe 3 times in last 4 weeks playing 6-12 hours a day

TOR learning curve is so bargin basement low that if it was set to anymore easy mode you would role your character as level 50 from start.

I played all the games you mentioned and a great many you didnt and TOR has NOTHING in common with those games in terms of challenge and difficulty.

Just because a game is slightly harder then WOW doesnt mean it compares with other games that came before.

TOR (in terms of difficulty setting) has far far far more in common with WOW and hitting the side of a barn wall from 2 feet away while NOT BLINDFOLDED or ENCUMBERED IN ANY WAY then it does to the games you mentioned.

There is many good things to be found in TOR

Challenge, Difficulty, Advanced level curve however are not any of them.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

This is what I miss most. The direction MMO's have taken over the course of the last 7 or 8 years has become less social and more about gear and button mashing mania.
