In a video game, I prefer the group that will be playing together choose as a group the approach they all prefer at the time - even if it makes no sense - as long as the entire group agrees and does not break the official rules of the game nor negatively impacts the game-play of other players who are not in the group at the time.

This debate has never been about an item stated as <class only>.

It about player perceiving it is class only.
What is that baseball bat in your signature? Oh! It's a lightsaber! How cute is that !

It's crica. Which is a very horrible word in Spanish.
Yeah that is a different thing all together isn't it.

Because I use items I need for looks or stats - and not all items I need that I use for looks and stats are only for my "class".

I don't speak any language but English. I wonder if it is a horrible word in all the rest of the languages too? Have you tried Google translate to find out?

He's just busting your chops because you disagree with him. I wouldn't let it concern you.

A simple way to avoid this is for the leader to set up master loot and assign the drops as such. If it is only good for one player then that player gets it, if it is good for many then do a /roll (if this game has it). Pug groups are always the worst to be in IMO.

Healer wins roll on heavy armor and gives it to his/her companion or sells it for personal profit. But that same heavy armor piece would be upgrade for tank. Group dies because tank's gear isn't good enough. Healer screams at tank "Y can't u do da job?".

I prefer a common sense approach that benefits the majority instead of the minority in the long run. You chose to benefit yourself in every available avenue regardless of others involved.
The difference is I don't see your approach as a "common sense" approach, because it asks an individual to concede that what they want for their character should be secondary to what someone else wants for their character. That makes no sense at all.

I choose to benefit myself through every available avenue, yes, because I believe the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. I'm not going to deviate from that line and choose not to improve myself gear-wise just because someone else also wants something. I'm much more inclined to roll Need and let them do likewise. The person who gets it is the person who rolls higher. Personal motivations, which are always open to debate from others, thus don't enter into the equation. The other person and I both have an equal chance at the item. Only one of us will get it. That's just how it works, because there isn't enough to go around.
