It has already been said by BIO that combat logs/meters are on the way...why are we still having this debate?

Meters are flawed. Let's take an example, Huttball. Here are things that meters don't measure which are more important than any stat:

- how many times you score
- how many times you CC, pull, knock, the ball carrier
- how many times you (above) their healer
- how far you pass
- etc...

Same holds true for other wzs. Also, I think there's a slight flaw in how kills are rewarded. I could swear I've seen many a skirmish where I don't get the kill credit when it was clearly MY kill.

As an aside, anyone have some info on kill award mechanics? Is it raw damage based? Final blow?

They have been a high priority since beta. Bioware needs to stop spending time of finding voice actors from around the world, and start spending time actually doing the things they said they would do ages ago!

I just want a combat log so I can see where my HP GOES.....sometimes I'm just left baffled on where it all dissapeared to and I have nowhere to check to see what skills did what so I can look out for them/stop them next time if possible...

No one is holding a gun to your head to stay, just leave if your unhappy. Why do people feel like they have to stay and play a game they arent happy with, its so stupid.

I'm not really against combat logs, but I don't miss them. There's no good reason to have them. I can always tell you what killed me without a damage log. Once you play the game long enough you know what you're getting hit with. I am very much against damage meters because of the exclusivity it breeds in MMO's, wherein people refuse certain classes/specs because their DPS is "not good enough". I don't like this and I never will.

I'm actually a fan of the current "raw" system where people have to make their own determinations based on perceived actual performance rather than being given a number so they can satisfy their min/max mindset. Just like with WoW and any other MMO I've played - if it ever gets to the point where I am refused a group/guild based on some spreadsheet, or because I didn't take Skill X that raises my DPS by 3.4 per second, or because my "gear score" isn't high enough, or there is any other arbitrary measure of quality that is completely unrelated to player skill, the game becomes stupid and I probably won't play it much longer.

If you're bored of the game though, and you think it's for the sole reason that you don't have damage meters, you may as well quit now, because that's the least of the game's problems.

I could not care less about damage meters.

what really needs to be in the game ASAP is a combat log.

launching without a combat log at all was so bad it was actually a little hilarious again.

now it is just getting more and more aggravating and ridiculous every day....

already making excuses for low dps? haha (just ribbin ya)

kills are more like assists but just like everything else in this game, sometimes it doesnt get counted
